Hey guys, first post in the optics section. I've just received my very first NF: NXS 12-42x56. It is to go on a rifle that I'm almost done building (need to wait next paycheck for rail and rings) to be used solely for bench target shooting. I have two questions
#1 Why are the internals made of brass, at least the fixture underneath the turret cap? Seems like a too-soft of a metal.
#2 I've noticed that, either by me or the factory, that the set screw of the turret cap has slightly 'dug' in to the brass fixture. Anyone else's like this and is it an issue?

Re: Nightforce: why brass internals?

Those parts that appear to be brass are hardened siliconized bronze.

They provide extreme durability, last extremely long and as they are dissimilar metals, they provide an excellent feel.
