So I snagged a NIB Nightforce 3.5x15x50 the other day and it arrived at y house today, so when I looked in the box the first thing I saw was a red card that read:
"ATTANTION
OWNERS REGISTRATION CARD IN OWNERS MANUAL
MUST BE FILLED OUT IMMEDIATLY, PROOF OF PURCHASE MUST BE ATTACHED TO HONOR WARRANTY."

So I pmed the member that sold it to me, and he receive it in trade so no go on receipt. So now what? am I screwed over on warranty? If Nightforce wont honor theyre warranty then ill just sell it and buy another scope.
Any Nightforce Reps care too chime in?

*This is not a bash of any sort, just dont want a paperweight if this thing stops workin for some reason.

i talked to nightforce and they said to send in the card filled out without the receipt if i didnt have it. no major issue since the they have a lifetime warranty.

Don't worry about it

I have sent a few nightforce scopes back without warranty info without any problems. They have a repair form you copy from there website, fill it out and send it in with the scope and rma number(you get that from them prior to shipping).

you don't need to do that. Ken will fix any issue regardless of who purchased it.

The very reason I included everything, the original invoice and receipt from my sale. However, I have sent the scope back for cleaning off 2 little debris and NF didn't even bother to check warranty card or any proof of purchase.

As long as its a NF, they take care of ya~!

This. When optics companies no longer warranty their product regardless of who owns it, and start hedging their customer service, it's time to stop paying the premium. Nightforce to date has not failed in this respect, unlike others....another reason why I keep buying them!

what happened, and was it your neglegince that caused the breaking, or did the scope mechanically fail?

3 as in THREE. What the fuck were you doing to break 3 Nightforce scopes? Seriously. I have one on a 27 pound 50BMG-that I guarantee will knock the taste out of your mouth-when it launches 800 grain Lapua solids-yet no scope problems.

Ah, WTF do I know.

We are all wondering how you managed that - many of us here have been using them for a while, and each could account for many more through contacts that have never had an issue. Most of us will tell you that of all the scopes available, the NF has the least problems in our experiences.

I'm sure it is possible to break an NXS, but you have to try pretty hard to do it. The fact that you broke three actually says more about you than it does about the scopes......

ALL were mechanical failures

1) 12-42x56: the front lens on the eye piece came loose. Pretty interesting having a $2000 scope rattle like that
2) 12-42x56(not the same as above): would not hold zero on a 22lr, it broke on a 50bmg
3) 8-32x56: scope leaked and fogged up in az weather

#2 got a demotion. it wouldnt stay on 24" square paper at 200yds with the 50 so i figured it took a dump so i mounted it to the 22 to confirm my suspicion. when i got the scope back it held inside 2.5" at 200yds with the same 50.

For NF and BC's: I think one OBJ is a "tighty" and one lower is a "loosey" with the option to either stretch or tape. If I remember correctly, the 43OBJ listed is the tighty and the better option. I never seen a BC cap to fit quite right on a NF. The cup on the tighty won't seat where it's intended to on the OBJ tube. I hit em with a heat gun to stretch the plastic a bit. Even so, if you go too far you compromise the detent that secures the cap closed.

after i received my 3.5-15X 50 from another member here , i had a few questions,so i called, talked to Ken, very nice guy and very informative, we talked about 15 min. the warranty issue come up, he told me they will stand behind their scopes whether they have a warranty card on file or not. i told him of my intention of mounting it on one of my ARs and he gave me some really good tips that are not in the manual.

Get the smaller of the the two, boil some water, drop the BC into a ziploc and into the boiling water for 30 sec or so-then take out of bag and put it where you want it.

I just posted what folks told me, for best results mike the scope and look at BC actual measurement chart lower on link.

I have owned 5 nxs, and dragged and shot the crap out of them. I am having difficulty buying the highly non-statistical experience of azslayer. Of course, I do know people who could break anything I handed them.

Im not saying that nightforce scopes aren't good and strong but they are capable of breaking do to mechanical failure. I have used and owned a lot more than 5 nxs and br models and only three failures so it not common but it happens. So if that makes you feel better about yourself and the alleged fact that nightforce scopes are "unbreakable" thats fine, it doesnt bother me at all.

i have talked to the original designer of the nxs model scopes and his original design is "unbreakable" in his opinion, but nightforce thought the production cost was to high so they cheapened it up a bit and released the nxs models different from the original design. The man said "the new models are no were near as tough as my original design but they still claim it is".

Have you ever seen the NF scope that took a bullet in Iraq and was still used to compete the mission? Im sure there is information and pictures still floating around.


Regardless, they are an impressive unit for their price point.

I want to say something in azslayer's defense. All mechanical objects at some point fail. I have contacted 4 different manufacturers of tactical scopes (the big 4). Nightforce NXS line has a failure rate of .35% according to the manufacturer. Nightforce, USO's, Schmidt & Bender, Leupold, it doesn't matter they all break. However most of these manufacturers are less than 1% failure rate with Nightforce being the lowest (that got back to me, Leupold blew me off which is a response of sorts). The internet is global networking so you are going to find the guys that fall into the .35% failure. My personnal experience with the NXS was that it was bulletproof. But i'm sure that the other 99.65% are also. I too have heard of Nightforce breaking but it is rare. To say that any scope is unbreakable is just rediculous.
