This weekend I ordered the BDC version of the Nikon Monarch 4-12 x 42 NIB from Wholesale Hunter on eGhey.

Replaces my old Bushnell Elite 3200 10x Mildot on CrazyMauser. Will report back with findings; Nikon scopes aren't talked about too much here presumably because they're not handcrafted by PhD candidates in German industrial superclean satellite optics facilities to withstand use by Navy Seals 100 m underwater with 25 mm Bushmaster cannons.

Hey, it's a $400 scope for us far-less-serious hobbyist-shooters!

I promise if it sucks, I'll own up to it too.

Nikon scopes have good glass but I believe the reason they don't get much love here is that the internal adjustment range leaves much to be desired.

Hell mine only has 40moa of adjustment.

I use a Nikon Monarch X 2.5-10x44 on my rifle and have never had an issue with it. Infact, I can't afford Nightforce or Leupold, so I guess I'm stuck with the Nikons. Got to love 'em though. This is the third one I've had on three rifles. The others got sold with the rifles.

How many Nikons are marketed as a "tactical" scope and have tons of internal travel, mildot, FFP, and have target turrets?

I could be wrong, but nikon doesn't make many scopes with all those options that I know of. That why you don't hear much about them here.

I'm not knocking Nikon, I have one and I dig it.

I actually had the scope you are talking about for almost a year, only mine had the Mildot reticule.

I liked it a lot. I havent been exposed to all the high end glass that is here, but overall I thought it looked clear and crisp.

I dont have the 1000yrd+ luxury that a lot of the guys here do, so the internal adjustment never really bothered me. Though I am sure if I had those kinds of shot, it would be a much bigger deal

Easy,
One of the reason's longbow has never had an issue shooting his Nikon Monarch X
(yes, it used to be called Tactical) is that it allows for 80 MOA of internal adjustment. That should allow you to reach out about as far as you are comfortable shooting. This scope has top of the line glass and the Ultra ClearCoat optical system. It is one of my favorite scopes and in 7 years has taken more then 25 deer ( generous limits in Texas).

Well, the scope's in and mounted. Had kind of an adventure when I discovered the mount's condition; mounting level was tough. I will highlight with pics here sometime this weekend including a range report. Glass is lovely, crosshairs with BDC circles are just as perfectly clear and impressive as can be.

Reports to follow!
