A little here, a little there
I live in Iowa & I couldn't take it no more. Needed a vacation. Couldn't look at another corn or bean field. My mom's side of the family has farmed their while life. Told the wife we're goin on vaca. She asked if we were goin to her cousins down in Kentucky. Told her NOPE, headin west.

Took her to Black Hills, Yellowstone, and Montana. Hadn't been to Yellowstone in 21 years, Black hills in 7 (my last Sturgis Rally), and never been to Montana. She's never seen Yellowstone or Montana.

Gotta tell y'all. Love them hills. I envy you guys that live there. Took about 600 pics and some video. Told her she would be lucky if she got me back here. She told me that she ain't movin' away from our grandbaby (1st one due in March). I figure it would work out.

Been around the world in the service but I love the states. Especially the the upper mid-west.

"Amber waves of grain" got you down? I know the feeling from previously living in Indiana, but originally being from Utah. Love those mountains...

Fear not, they will follow. I imported my wife from Indiana, her daughter (& grandkids) followed us, now I have my grandkids with me in the Black Hills.

Kids don't like being too far from parents, (aka babysitters).

Two greatest places on earth, Black Hills for Motorcycles, Big Horns for horses.

Re: No more corn & beans (Kinda long)

People used to tell me Iowa was flat. Used to tell them to get off I-80. No comparison between here and the mountains. Just beautiful views everywhere you looked.

I think it made her very nervous, me driving up and down the mountains not really watching the road. She didn't like the "Beware of Rattlesnakes" sign in the Badlands either.

M700 just posted a pic somewhere in the Cascades of he, his son, and a bear...

NNothing but mountains and water here....
(and libtards unfortunately)

I plan to retire in the black hills - Custer SD perhaps...maybe Montana...

Beautiful country. I think you can appreciate why John Denver sang about it his entire life...

Re: No more corn & beans (Kinda long)

Wife and I did something similar last month. Drove from IL to MT by way of South Dakota. Beautiful country out that way.

That thing is a reindeer. It is in Bear Country. That and the bear cubs. The 1st pic is the Bighorn Mountains west of Sheridan.

#2 is the Upper Falls in Yellowstone. #3 is near the north entrance at Yellowstone. #4 is in Custer State Park. (But heck, antelope are everywhere out west.) #5 is the start of the buffalo roundup in Custer State Park. #6/#7 is Bear Country. #8 is in the Black Hills National Forest.

After flying over the Rockies about 100 times...

I finally visited Yellowstone on a bike trip this past spring... first time out there. Started in Co. Springs w. a tour through Cheyanne Mountain. Went to Gunnison, Jackson Hole, Mammoth Hot springs, Little Bighorn. Ended in Sturgis after 3 weeks and left my bike out there for the summer. In 3 weeks, I head back and ride to Ca. to do Death Valley, Sequoia, Yosemite and Tahoe.

Really, seriously thinking about retiring someday in Cody, Wy. I loved that place. Full of retired LE! And the Buffalo Bill Historical Center is fantastic!

Riding/driving through the Rockies is just mystical. An amazing, incredible place.

Anyone who wants to join me in a ride between Rapid City and Visalia, Ca. Oct. 19 - 22... let me know!

Cheers, Sirhr
