Nothing to see here, move along, move along... Yap is sinking. Polar bears suffering...

And for consideration . Everything evolves and adapts . To say that what humans are doing to their enviroment is not natural is folly . If a chipmunk found a new supplement to his food supply and his excrement changed chemically that's not natural ? Ehat if his excrement was now toxic to the flora and fauna of his environs ? Not natural .
Just because humans have the ability to formulate and fabricate it does not equate to unatural . In fact the very reason that we survived this long is due to our natural ability to create what we need and desire . All sarcasm aside , given the context of what is natural to our human condition then three rows of teeth may be the new norm . Maybe birth defects are really weak gened or deficient people mating . Maybe nature's answere to that is your lineage stops here .
Just something to consider .

Well, not the developing world.... The West has seriously cleaned up its act (except FUSSR...).

But the rest of the place... Yeah. It's a mess. And there are going to be repercussions.

That, however, is not climate change!

The funny thing is that if it's moved from a socialist argument (wealth redistribution) to a more capitalist argument (wasting things is wasteful... and conservation is better capitalism in the long term...) then the problems of pollution, etc. become easier to deal with... especially with up front costs.

But the 21st Century robber barons who raped the Western world during the Industrial Revolution... have been replaced with third world robber barons, who are doing the same thing. While complaining that it's our fault... and that we should destroy our economy.

Watch this.... and note how the families getting rich off this are blaming the West... "Well, we're stuck getting rich off breaking your ships? We shouldn't clean this up, America should!" Amazing to see what the Indians and the Paks are doing to the planet.

But it's still not the hoax of climate change. It IS the reality of survival in the third world... where the taxes aren't paid, the oil revenue is siphoned off to corrupt officials, the food aid gets stolen and sold, and a handful of corrupt oligarchs... get to be billionaires. And these folks are leaving a mess that will be with us for thousands of years. No denying that! And it is disgusting.

While our billionaires are vilified, the third world's are... getting richer.

Cheers,

Sirhr

That film is our future.

Todays bullshit in Congress has us firmly on that path.

You think there is a global warming problem now just wait until we are all cooking over open fires in our most prized possession - a tin pot.

As you're pure intellect I'm sure you know how to copy and paste.
Try and use reputable sources.

No. I won't feed you anything else, if you want to prove me wrong then I'm your huckleberry. I've made that clear. Until then marinate in your own ignorance, it bothers me very little. I started this conversation with no intention of discussing emissions or even climate change in the slightest, yet I've indulged your digression enough for you to return to your cave and pout.

There are absolutely zero underlying meanings in my posts, which people consistently fail to realize in the face of an opportunity to bandwagon against literally anything.

You’re a child. The left has invented this because their ideology is an utter failure by all measures. Unless the the world will end they cannot justify their misanthropic totalitarianism. You obviously share at least their misanthropy and therefore willing believe their bullshit on zero evidence but what a bunch of priests of the algorithm deem true. That is NOT science. That’s faith.

Ok so...are we gonna play or not? I AM your huckleberry.
I don't know if I'm gonna get time tonight to play a lot, as I'll be supervising a very large WATER RECLAMATION FACILITY. I've been in this business about 33 years now...give or take a bit as I was actually born into it, but I'll just stick to the part where I was an adult.

The world is overpopulated. Hmmm, mayhap so, mayhap so. I'm pretty sure there isn't a line forming to "die for the cause".

"The fish have Mercury in them!"
Yeah....it would appear so. There is lead in the water too. I bet you don't know what EP stands for do you? Do you know how long we've been actually "looking" for Mercury in fish? Do you know that the third world eats fish with wild abandon, with seemingly little effect from Mercury?

Did you know there is a literal "river of Mercury" under a mountain in China? It was put there by the first Emperor around 210BC.

Is there more "shit" in everything now, as opposed to 100 years ago? Well now that seems to be the question doesn't it? The fact is, we really haven't been looking for this "shit" for 100 years. I can still remember having a topical available called mercurocrome, it was very effective. It is no longer legal. We went bonkers over everything "Mercury" a few decades ago.

If I were most people I'd be more concerned about EP. At the same time, I wouldn't lose my mind over it, cause most EP have been around a very long time already, ie you have been exposed, and have been for a long time. You are now a guinea pig, and if you get sick....to be honest, you nor anyone else will really ever know any particular single compound or element, caused or contributed to your condition.

Sometimes you have to take things on faith. Or, just realize you was dead the minute you were born....just a matter of time. People aught to live their lives. Yes, we should avoid polluting our environment, hell that's my mantra every day, but there is a huge limit on what can be done.

WRT the mercury in fish, I believe that has now been (to a large part) debunked. Something about as long as selenium levels are higher than the mercury content (which is most fish), then the body can chelate it (the mercury) out of the body. There are though, some fish you still have to be careful about (sharks, tarpon, whale). At least that was what I was told....

WRT mercurocrome, I was wondering why I couldn't find it anymore. I wanted to pick some up to show my daughter, since she gave this quizzical look to my wife and I when I mentioned it a few weeks back...

Almost every fish now has a Mercury warning. I could delve really deep into my theory of what is "really" happening but I see no real point.
Yes, it appears some people can eat all the "bad fish" they want with no ill effects while others seem to end up at the doctor.

Elemental Mercury is a bugger to pin down when tracing a source. Everyone thinks they know where it is coming from, but much of it remains a mystery. Meanwhile, we buy lightbulbs that contain Mercury, from China, because we can't make them here legally, and we do this in the name of SAVING ENERGY!
Solar panels produce a hazardous sidestream. Batteries, that are necessary for hybrid transportation, electric cars, solar power, yes even wind power, produce hazardous sidestream pollution.

It's all a fucking hoax, all of it. There is no free lunch, and I hate to break it to some of you forward thinkers, there never will be in our current physical state and physics based dimension.

ETA: elemental Mercury can be trapped and contained. I am operating a system at this very moment that is trapping the stuff, it's quite cool and brand new. You'd never believe what it is.....many of you are likely wearing some right now.

Tell me, what happened to the workers that the Qin Dynasty had install the "river of mercury", which is not an actual river of mercury but a river system laid out in miniature and filled with mercury? It's an unproven myth outside of Siam Qian's writings that it even existed at all. Do you really think mercury...ice melt...is feeding some underground river of mercury? The workers, in any case, would have very likely gotten severe mercury poisoning. Imagine the Emperor not giving a shit about his subjects, eh?

There are large natural concentrations of mercury and mercury sulfide within the earth, there are also other viciously more poisonous substances which we use to do a myriad of especially vital things in modern industry. When you take toxins out of the ground and use them in ways which spread them to effect foundational human resources and biological processes you are absolutely 100% scientifically fucking yourself up the ass as a species. There's a right and a wrong way to do anything, and when it comes down to costs and benefits guess which way is more popular with humans?

EP stands for different things in different lexicons. Enterprise unit by practice is what comes to my mind, I imagine that is incorrect based on the way you've used it.

remember working at a refinery that made Chlorine gas . they used mercury and i was told that the pads the mercury was used on leaked for many decades. that if you took a shovel behind the plant and stuck in in the ground you could find it . well on those words i tried me and 3 other people just to see if that story was true and within the first shovel of dirt the ground looked a little funny and on the shovel was the mercury that we were told about people still eat the fish in the nearby stream and crab in the waters around it. just because people still eat it don't mean much and the chemical plant people or the epa saying the water is clean does not make it so. Government can and do lie , scientist that want grants can be bought and sold like hookers to get the money for the research they want . and someone who wants to eat a turd will because they can. so what is or is not true is up to you not a scientist or a doctor or the government besides nothing is going to be done to stop it and if ocd is correct the world ends in only 12 years . besides the beer boat looks fun ,and you too can make you very own private island from 2 leter soda bottles.

Well technically no living person has ever actually seen the river of Mercury....yeah I kinda set you up....it's theorized it's a moat of Mercury around the "treasures".
Ah the workers....yes...emotion again.

"When you dig shit out of the ground there is pollution."
Mmm....no shit Sherlock.

Look, this is established fact. I thought you were wanting to play for real? Don't give me shit I can agree with. Tell me how we are gonna kill off 6.5 billion people? I mean, that's what the people driving this environmental Nazis train want to do. They even put up a Stonehenge like monument up to announce their agenda.

We already clean the water, soil, air and babysit the 3rd world shitholes where MOST of the world's pollution is coming from, to start.

You aren't really saying anything. Telling people you don't have time to educate them is horse shit.

What. Do. You. Do. For. A. Living?

The water is as clean as it can be made.
Mercury in soil, isn't a guarantee Mercury is in the water.
I'm just using the Mercury as an example, it's only one of THOUSANDS, it has been a real hot button for a while now and is hitting it's peak, everyone has kinda put lead on the back burner.

It's the Britta commercial effect, emotions run high. The average person in our society doesn't have a clue about water, and what it takes to keep it clean. People that "think" they know something about water, are far worse.

Ok, so quick reality check. You have submitted zero facts which directly contrast or debase the ones I have submitted, so all my facts still stand with zero underlying meanings. I've proven you to be unscrupulous in your effort to submit the things you have said as relevant and/or even fucking true. Without the parts of my arguments which you have outright embellished, we don't actually disagree. I don't know what point you're trying to revolve our conversation around, but I definitely get the impression that you're a bubble off level with whatever it is.

As far as what I do for a living, I'm a space force detective. I have to tell you when you ask because it's the law. They don't make me do patrols or adhere to the grooming standard cause I'm real clever at solving crimes and shit. Lotsa desk time with random travels, get to confiscate my own guns in a year or two, homie it's lit.

So you are not in fact involved in the environmental field at all. We can reasonably assume that your professional skills, though great they may be, do not involve the environmental sciences. So we can reasonably assume that environmental science is for you, a hobby.

You've proven me to be unscrupulous? Fuck me you ARE good!

Listen Scooter, you are the only person here refusing to talk about "what you know".
I'm not even sure what facts you have laid out for us. You haven't actually laid out any facts....nor technically have I ?, which was by design.

So there are too many people....right? Is that one of your facts?
And the Earth is shit tons "worse" than 100years ago? Is that about it?
And digging shit out of the Earth is our death knell?
That bout cover it?

You sound like one them fellers what put up them Georgia Guidestones.

Listen, don't fret. The earth will be fine, well...untill it's destroyed by fire, but that's at least a couple years off. For right now, the powers that be are trying to panic the populace of the planet into mass genocide to....well ultimately save the planet, and a few of it's more enlightened denizens.
The junk science being used in all of this is by design. There is lots of good science, and people like me, are using that science to secure a future for ALL of us. There are limits, and laws, and guidelines a plenty, and more being developed every day.

The environmental "movement" going on now is a religion designed to enslave and eliminate billions of human beings. There are limited solutions to any equation. The only solution, to this equation we are discussing, is population control. Here is the thing, most people think they are on the outside looking in, just like no one ever thinks they will be a zombie in the Apocalypse.

Oh and one more thing....it's not just a legend in an obscure manuscript:

"That moat of mercury also presents another reason why archaeologists are loath to explore the tomb just yet — doing so would likely be very dangerous, according to soil samples around the tomb, which indicate extremely high levels of mercury contamination."

So yeah, they do know it's there.

Yes excellent debate. Here here! Now run along scooter.

Yall gon' learn today.

I never said I believed in global warming, even said "global warming" at all, or claimed to know much about climate change. I'm not going to take a side on it because I don't care to talk about the fucking weather. If you ask me, the whole thing is just something people want to argue about instead of getting nailed to the wall for the real quagmires and corruption that came along with the industrial revolution— which range from biological to economic. It's like getting shingles and bitching about chicken pox.

As far as pollution and resource mismanagement, which I did initially address, I'd like to underline the facts that the last 100 years have seen the population increase 400% accompanied by an energy use increase far above commensurate levels. The industrial revolution was brought about largely because of the steam engine, which burns coal or even timber. We've literally spent the last 100 years digging more coal than has ever been even found by man prior to 1900.

Don't play stupid. You know if I put a glass of mercury in front of you and said "it came from the planet, drink it" that you'd be fucked to do it.
These are your facts presented?
Population increase, yep been going on since forever.
Energy increase, yep as there are more people and they'd like power. Some call this a given.
Steam engines burn coal/wood. yep
We have dug more coal in the last 100 years than all previously. yep Most likely as a result of modern machinery
Something is missing as you claim profound knowledge and or insight the above or below isn't.
BTW unless you're a member of a team your employment isn't secret squirrel shit.

R

If anyone here thinks the earth as a system is "healthier" now than 100 years ago I got some facts for you. I have no idea about climate change, because honestly what's in the ground and the water is a million times scarier. I'll tell you right now we've had such a party in the last 100 years that your grandchildren's grandchildren won't be done cleaning it up, neurological birth defects and all.

They are plenty pissed at the life the filthy peasants enjoy. Many or most of them are happier than they are, and their gloating and superiority are ashes in their mouths. All they care about is that they’re exerting their will on the peasants and using force. This proves they’re better, because all their other measures have been destroyed by the prosperity capitalism provides. They used to talk about “poor people”. Not they have to import them, because our “poor people” drive cars, and have flatscreen TVs with 500 channels, and turn on AC in the summer, etc.

Now it’s “income inequality”. There’s another word for that...envy. Environmentalism is the religion of hatred and vice. It’s only solution is ever totalitarianism, because that is the point from the beginning.

Guys like CB are nothing more than useful idiots demanding “proof” there is no Armageddon, but never proving there is (religion), all while calling unbelievers names and claiming the mantle of truth. Same as it ever was.

So, many years ago I had the misfortune of renting a house in a very nice private community on a lake from some uber Democrats. They were worth a few million and heavily involved in politics, their money (donations) bought them some political access at least at the state level. Approaching the situation from a "know your enemy" perspective I had a few opportunities to question on the foundation of their political beliefs. They believed that by being insiders, having money and having bought access, that someday they would be part of the elite ruling class making decisions for everyone else that they personally did not have to live with. I believe it's the same with these Dem politicians, celebrities, Dem donors, etc. They don't believe a damn thing they preach to their brain dead followers, and they don't believe they will have to live under the conditions they create. They will be like the citizens of the "Capitol City" in the Hunger Games and everyone else is just there to provide for them and be ruled by them. I expect exactly zero point zero rich Democrats to give up even a cent to forward their own causes, that's what us slave taxpayers are for.

@Fig

Envy (the distant cousin of greed) is a powerful motivator. There's some interesting research on "envy" and the impacts it causes on human behavior, in that envy usually evokes emotional responses driven by insecurities that the individual rarely recognizes. These patterns of stimulus and response are pretty blatant once you understand them...

It's ironic that you bring this up, and bears some deep thought on the matter as they apply to our politicians...

Just idle rambling thoughts at 5am in the morning...

Per my previous post, I'd think that you might want to give "The Laws of Human Nature" (by Robert Greene) a perusal. It's a dry (and often times comes off as a self help manual) book, but offers some pretty poignant insights in the behavior that you mention. (Definitely requires some critical thinking when digesting the material; i.e. the need for a combination of feminine and masculine thinking.)

Just a thought...
