Notice: Updated Rules - PX Sections

An incident last week lead to some discussions about what one rule or another meant.
Some seemed interested in trying to dissect the rules and look for loopholes, rather than interpreting their overall intent, which is for all of us to behave ethically.

To make things more clear and straightforward, we've added a blanket rule.
A kind of "This above all others" statement regarding buying, selling, trading and posting in the PX sections.

Conduct yourself in an ethical manner.
Unethical behavior in listings or transactions will be addressed by mods and may result in disciplinary actions up to and including permanent removal from the site.
If you have questions about what is ethical and what is not, then this may not be the place for you."

I have and haven't had any problems or issues with the above. I hold most members in high regards and I'd feel bad myself if I wronged another, temporarily or otherwise.

Now if only we could bring back the rating system like we used to have way back when. That was really helpful. I had a stellar score too.

Now the only thing you can do is to look at how long the member has been here, how active he is, and sort of go by that, hoping a long time member won't trash his reputation just for a sale. But there are other guys that have been around a while, just didn't contribute much in ways of posts or threads. Or ones that haven't been around long but have been posting a lot. It's hard to determine sometimes.

A rating system like before really does help cut down on the scams and unscrupulous behavior on the PX forums. I and many others would really like to see it come back if it's not too difficult for you guys to reimplement.

Thanks for the consideration! I know you guys are busy but I think this may help make your jobs easier too. Less complaints. The Good Guy list is nice, but the search function doesn't work too well here and besides being hard to fine, it's not complete, not everyone rates good guys for every sale and some don't at all.

Thing about the rating system is it costs $ to put in after the upgrades and changes.

Frank doesnt want to deal with the PX much at all based on his past posts about this.

There is always a dirtbag around. I have done mulitple thousands of dollars of great deals here, both buying and selling.
Never an issue except a MO lost in the mail.

As I learned as I helped a 6 year old fill out a lost and found report for his lost toy spur at the stock show last week. We have a different group here. Most all are highly respectable class acts.
There is a percentage of the population the is amoral. Not in a religious sense, just in general.
That will spill into all segments and subgroups. Even plenty of “church” people. Look at all the friggin pedophile priests.

Thanks to the mods for dealing with this so we can continue to have a PX.

The ratings system is phenomenal. It's worth it, especially considering the value of deals we make here. Charge for the ability to list items for sale, just like we do for access to the online training section. Hopefully Frank would make some money, and I would damn sure gain some peace of mind when I send 3k for a scope.

I'll second the sentiment that I've done thousand of $$ of business off this site as a buyer. With the highest-class, most honorable bunch of deplorables this side of flyover country. The SH PX is, truly, in a class of its own in terms of its sellers!

For the "ethics" clause, I love it. Make shit all encompassing to get rid of a dirtbag on a whim.

For the rating system, I think Frank's been extremely clear it's not coming back, and every request inches him a little closer to deleting the entire damn PX. I'm just appreciative for what I have as outside of donating to the PVF a few years back and clicking on some ads, I've done little more for him than be a bandwidth whore.

The issue with a “pay-for system” is then people expect some level of protection if crap goes wrong.
Frank doesnt want to deal with any of that crap.
He would rid this place of the PX before that is my guess.
We already have ethics-questionable people paying $33 for for sale access here and there. Overall, great and amazing people.

A ratings system works and costs money.

My thought is maybe go elsewhere to buy and sell if you dont like the PX here.
Plenty of vendors would like your $. And that makes Frank more $......
