Makes more sense now...but, why did you choose to test them at 200? To show a clearer picture of the deviations?

This rifle has never shot well (very disappointed). I have RL22, but I have a hunt after Thanksgiving and time is running short. I've shot the 190gr SMK's and they shot a little better.

RL-22 is excellent. I had a good load with 75gr RL-22 with 165gr. Got 3150 avg fps. Also another good node around 78grs this close to max.Either one is great a great ocw.

Check the rifle over and make sure things are tight, scope, action bolts,etc... Lots of things to check, barrel free floated or pressure, debris.

Im reloading my 300winmag with 210g VLDs as we speak. Im shooting a Krieger 1:10 26in barrel on a Bat Action. Im also using H4831SC. Ive had my best groups with 69.5 - 70g so far. I worked up in half grain increments. Both these charges shot Half MOA at 100yds.

CCI Mag 250 primers
0.005 off the lands
cases trimmed, deburred, flash hole deburred, uniformed primer pockets

have you had a lot of trigger time with this rifle? How do you normally shoot with other rifles??

If this particular rifle is a problem child, make sure everything is tight and torqued to spec, then try a different powder or bullet.

Otherwise at first glance without knowing the type of shooter you are I would say get some more trigger time, and then repeat your ocw test. I don't see a real clear cut progression or any sequential charges that have a definite similar POI. If I had to choose from those pics and the triangulations depicted I would try around the 76.2gr charge.

The other question is, why are you seating .050" off the lands?? I'd try a bit closer to the lands personally but that's just me. Somewhere around .010" to .020" off.

I checked every bolt/screw on the rig. Torqued the actions screws to 65in/lbs, torqued the caps on the scope to 24in/lbs, and torqued the side screws on the rings to 65in/lbs. Everything has been checked and/or rechecked.

Re: OCW: 300WM, 168gr VLD, H4831SC

my remington 26" hart, 1-10 twist, 300mag seemed to prefer 35inlb torque on the action screws, when i went tighter, the groups opened up.

i use 76.8g h1000, 220smk, fed210m, win case. 2.97 ogive, which is at the lands in mine. it shoots .5 moa or (mostly)better regularly at 200y. ill post some of the groups when i get some pics loaded up

i dabbled with the 168vld because i have a bunch for my 308's but never got better than 1 1/4" groups at 200y, but it was with rl22 and around 77.5g

heres the 200y 5 shot group i shot last week, its .640 average ctc. it was like a 3 minute group, as my buddy with his 338 lapua savage is really obnoxious when its next to you.
