Today`s weather was amazing!!

We had 15 guns including two new shooters that joined in on the fun. A great way to start our year at the club.

2. T. Rogers 193-15V

6. Sled 181-9V
7. Jared 170-4V
8. Howard 159-2V
9. M. Vickio 154-3V

1. STP 199-25V
2. JdaSr. 196-23V
3. David M. 139-2V

Two had scope trouble and did not turn in scores. Overall, the day was what we hope for...warm temps and a tolerable breeze from the south for most of the match.

Thanks to all that shot with us today.

Re: Odessa FV200 F-Class results April 3rd

Had a great day, despite scope issues. Won't go into specifics except that after ten rounds, it was obvious I was not going to resolve the issue on the line and any further attempts would not likely be effective. No point in getting worked up and allowing my bad moments to spill over onto others.

But that was all secondary. I got to help a friend. I got to re-meet and greet the gang. I got to enjoy one of the Lord's more ideal days in the setting and the company I have grown to enjoy greatly. I just love the smell of burning H4350 in the morning.

I knew that I was going to have a wonderful day with the deuce, and I now know that it was not to be that day. I still know that day is coming, I just need to do my homework with a bit more diligence.

For all of you who came, I thank you for helping me have that great day.

For all our forum members, I wish you a warm and pleasant Easter Sunday, and especially those of you who go to exotic lands and endure much on our behalf.

Congats to the two 199 scores! Very impressive.

Apparently, I've got some work to do yet. I'm sure it's all me, but a recheck of my loads is likely in the future. Despite my score, I had two improvement since last year - 1. much reduced recoil hop on the bipod and 2. I'm starting to be able to know when I blow a shot and where it likely hit.

Thanks for helping us all to enjoy a great day! Looking forward to the next one.

Scott; Is 30V a record? A. Mussack that was one great score you put out, STP 199-25v, Scott pulls one round just to keep things interesting, we all want him to shoot that clean 200.

Three shooters above 195, bringing your A game is longer good enough. Congrats to all. Yea we all want to shoot in the 190's, but just as important is hanging out with the people that show up at Odessa.

That is likely the most ever in T/R class for Odessa.

Easy to score too...

That's only about 1.5 hours from me. I would definitely be interested in getting into some F class shooting. I just need to throw together a precision rifle rig.

Rich,

I have either a T/R or an Open class rifle you are welcome to use at our next match.

...unless you can throw something together in 2 weeks

I'm never shot a precision rifle so I'm not sure how well I'd do. What date is the next shoot? Let me see what I have planned.

Thanks!

Re: Odessa FV200 F-Class results April 3rd

First of all, this event is about learning. Winning is for some of the shooters, but not all, myself for one. Putting together a precision rifle is just going to delay the process if you already have a working varmint-style rig, 50-60 rounds of reliable ammo, and either a bipod or rest, and a rear bag. My rifle is a box-stock factory Remington with an under-$100 Tasco scope. Key point here, don't worry about whether your equipment is good enough. Any varmint-capable rig is adequate for the events.

The important thing is to get here ASAP and get the process started.

Next match's announcement is due to go up today or tomorow.

Re: Odessa FV200 F-Class results April 3rd

Sorry for the dumb questions, but:

1- How can a 200 points max have a 30X counts? If the match is a 20 rounds, then the max would be 200-20X. If the match is 30 rounds, than the max score would be 300-30X. I am confused...

2- What is the size of the 10 and X rings?

Thank you and sorry again, but I am confused...

Re: Odessa FV200 F-Class results April 3rd

FV200 is fired on a proprietary V target with scoring rings for V, 5, 4, and 3 points, and 2 points for rounds still within the 1/2" border. Targets are printed with two bulls on an 8 1/2" x 14" legal page. COF is ten rounds each on 4 bulls provided on two targets per shooter. COF is two 20rd plus sighter stages in a 30 minute time limit per stage. Shapes identical to the V and 5 ring are also mounted upon the same backer for use as sighter bulls.

So a 40rd course of fire's possible maximum score is 200-40V.

The target is scaled for 200yd

V-ring, 1" or roughly 1/2MOA white with a black line border
5-ring, 2" or roughly 1MOA 60% gray with a black line border, this allows bullet holes to be distinguished easier.
4-ring, 4" or roughly 2MOA white with a back line border
3-ring, 6" or roughly 3MOA white with a black line border

I designed and print the targets.

Re: Odessa FV200 F-Class results April 3rd

Rich,

I would suggest you consider taking up Scott on his offer to loan a rifle. Shooting a match will go a long way toward helping you figure out what equipment you really want for yourself before spending your money on things you will soon decide you don't like/want.

Hope to see you there.
