I've tried the search and can't find the answer I'm looking for.
I can find a bunch of threads about opening up the barrel channel, but I'm not seeing anything re: forend stiffness after doing so (prob. just not using the right search terms).
I've got a Kelbly Atlas BR gun I'd like to be able to switch the barreled action into an H-S Precision varmint stock I've got laying around. The barrel is a #7 HV contour. It will require opening the barrel channel up a fair amount to get it to free-float.
For those of you that have opened up this stock to clear a larger dia. barrel, is the forend still stiff enough for use off a bi-pod? I don't want something that will slap the barrel under recoil (caliber = 6 Dasher). I'll wait and buy another stock if the forend will be too thin and flimsy.
Experiences appreciated.
