orynx cassis ?s

I'm using an Oryx chassis for a CZ .22 rifle and while it's good, I'd recommend stepping up to the MDT LSS-XL Gen2 chassis for a little over $100 more. You get thumb screw adjustable cheek pad and length of pull on the LSS where there is no real LOP adjustment on the Oryx and the cheek pad only has lock screws so while adjustable it's not as convenient.

And what would be the reason for this ?
1. Out of the box, I don't like shape of the bottom of the stock on the Oryx. I much prefer a longer bag rider surface of the Bravo. At the same time the Bravo can also be converted to a butt hook.

2. Bravo offers a lot more upgradability. Accessories like the tool-less buttpad height mechanism or the minimalist spigot offer significant ergonomic improvements at a very reasonable price.

tx all just the info i seek. if the howa stays then maybe will get chassis but prices are discouraging.
Yep. They ain't cheap. It sucks. Here is a bell and Carlson on Midway for $320. It's inletted for the Howa 1500. I got my krg bravo from Brownells. I found a 25 dollar off coupon online. Just try and look for some deals or coupons and it'll lessen the hurt on your wallet. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1006584086

tx that is tempting. standard stock config is fine. bedding block is the deal. used bravo is fine but not a common gun on here. be hard to find. typical midway-msrp. does anyone know if this stock requires the box mag adapter? mine is standard closed box with drop floorplate, which i much prefer.

Used Bravos typically run $300-$325.
I agree on the Oryx needing a bag rider or something.

Can anyone print one that will clamp to a short picatinny?
@Rthur what say you?
Oryx already has a couple of bag rider options.

2 aftermarket styles from Jamer: https://www.jamerllc.com/products-1?category=Oryx+Chassis+by+MDT
MDT's own bagrider that bolts into the Mlok buttstock slot: https://mdttac.ca/rear-bag-rider/

I have one of each. MDT option is a little easier to use with a bag if you're a pincher.

also..., there's a pretty long thread about the Oryx on here, where many have shared their feedback:

Thanks for the info.

My wife uses the Oryx for her Rim-X, so unfortunately, adding even 1/4" won't work.
If the MDT one actually works (can't see why it shouldn't) then that's what I'll get for her.

Too bad MDT doesn't list it as an option for the Oryx.
I think they are losing lots of sales

It wasn't originally listed as an option, because the previous version of the Oryx Chassis came without a mounting point on the bottom for the bag rider. The mlok channel came as a revision some time later last year.

In my case, the LOP added by the Jamer option is exactly where I needed to be (I use 2 spacers on my second Oryx), so it killed two birds with one stone.

Like I said before, either option works well, just depends on the application. Hope it helps for your plans.

I could honestly use another spacer, but this works for bench shooting too.
Definitely need it for prone.

Gonna see if I can get an adjustable LOP and pad height for it.
Then the wife can shoot the BR also.

I have two Bravo's and I purchased a blem oryx for a rifle I put together for my son for Christmas.
I like the ergo's of the oryx more. thumbscrews are available for the cheek riser.
There are more upgrade options for the Bravo.

The thumb screws are also common thread 1/4-20, if that helps. I bought a bag of 10 or something like that from mcmaster carr, covers both of mine and still cheaper than buying 2 of the MDT branded ones

Maybe try this? https://www.tactical-evo.com/en/useful-accessories/86-adjustable-recoil-pad-universal.html

one of the other oryx guys recommended it.

I had a oryx on a 700 LA. Did I like it more than a $1400 MDT ACC? No. Was it worth every penny of the $400 I paid, yes.
Im with you there. I dont think it will ever compete with an ACC, but there are shared design principles, and its likely the smartest thing MDT ever did to introduce more buyers to a chassis.

Before I bought my oryx, I never considered a chassis. It actually came as a solution to trying to "upgrade" my tikka stock with every add-on I could get, to get it comfortable for me. After looking at an adjustable cheek riser, bedding a rail, a thicker forearm grip, and an upgraded buttpad for LOP adjustment, I was at the cost of an oryx. A few of those upgrades involved drilling into the factory stock too, so I wasnt exactly confident in the material to handle it long term, after seeing the innards.

After using my first Oryx, I bought a second one about 3 months later. After owning 2, I have a rifle on order with an MDT LSS XL Gen 2 chassis kit, and down the road I may upgrade that rifle to an ACC, depending on if I end up doing PRS or not.
