OT: Fiat Spiders

Re: OT: Fiat Spiders

we must have traveled the same places in search of cool cars back then. Between Oakland, LA, and The tracks in and around each place me and my Pop and bro saw more cool cars than a guy could see in a lifetime. The car culture is heavy in CA and is almost a life in itself.

JR,
If you want a seriously cool little roadster, look for an older Alpha Romeo

A 1983 Veloce would be perfect and in red would mimic Dustin Hoffman's from 'The Graduate'

I worked on one of those once, the chick had it for like 10 years and still loved it like she just got it.

Alfa's..., the other meat that's unfit for human consumption.

Name me one Italian car maker who rates reliability as the first priority (and actually nails it).

Re: OT: Fiat Spiders

Well aside from Italian if a little hot rod drop top is desired, the little MX5 Miata is killer. Lots of aftermarket parts for going fast, sounding racy, and handling better than the factory made it, HOWEVER, there is a really sweet 'Sport Touring' model at the local dealer that I saw that has all Mazdaspeed parts on it and man it looks fast just sitting there. Me Likey Mazda lately because the cars have a lot of factory speed parts for them

Re: OT: Fiat Spiders

Someone,( I disremember who) was promoting small block four letter "F" word conversions for the Miata. It seems a late model Mustang donor car was the source for the running gear. Seemed like an interesting project. If I remember correctly the conversion didn't screw up the balance to badly.

Re: OT: Fiat Spiders

I have seen the #46 Datsun and the Blue Alfetta behind it at events that were at Sears Point before. Always loved seeing the 2L four bangers run as well as seeing them run the 101N from SF when I was coming home from work in the Stang...little shits were fast through traffic and my light weight 66 felt like it was a damn hippo trying to play catch up
