Just curious if any others out there watch Have Gun Will Travel on MeTV on Saturdays. Today was a great one about some sheriff who brought 5 books back from Philadelphia and tried to ram codes and laws from Philly down the townspeople's throats. Among those rules were to be disarmed. Paladin pointed out that disarming the populace would lead to gangs and other malcontents coming into the town, just like the 2 that had almost killed the sheriff were it not for Paladin and his trusty Derringer (and who wouldn't want to shoot as well has Paladin can with a Derringer!!!).

This is probably my favorite show on Saturdays with Trackdown always good as a warm-up to HGWT. It amazes me how the story-line is always highly moral and just and tells the story of law and order. My how times have changed since the late 50s/60's in regards to TV show quality. Granted, Trackdown is based on Texas Ranger cases.

I think you'll notice that almost all of TV and movies in today and age has left morality, honesty and just the basic do the right thing.
Much the same way the kids of today are being raised, people only hope the Babysitter is doing a good job of raising the kids as they're not around long enough to have any impact on their kids

Watched it for a long time. Research his back story and origin story.
One thing I could never figure, was why he would settle for a custom pistol that shot low and to the right. He had adequate time in the job to order a better model. I guess you couldn’t get good gunsmithing back then either.
He also got snuck up on and hit on the back of the head a lot. It was a trite plot bit that always bothered me (we watched this as kids when it was first run).
The quote at the beginning of the show didn’t always show up in the actual program (you have to watch them a LOT to catch that).
A lot of actors who later became famous or stars themselves showed up on this program.

I forgot about the low and right. Maybe that’s why it seems his Deringer killed more bad guys.

And yes, he does get knocked out a lot. But hey it is good entertainment with a moral to the story usually.
