My new Pelican 1750 just came. I noticed one of the latches had a piece of plastic kinda smushed off. No biggie its stil plenty secure.

However I noticed the center 2 latches are very mushy while the two outside ones close with a confirming snap. I then stood on the case and the two center latches open. Is this normal? If it is I must say I'm a little disappointed in the Pelican's quality and could easily see this case coming open if it was hit hard enough or weight was put on it which would kill its "waterproof" ability.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

    I only buy Starlight cases.
But why not contact the dealer you bought this from?
    Buy it used?

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

Definitely not normal. The catches are generally a little difficult to open and stay positively closed. I agree with contacting Optics Planet first and if they won't address the issue, then contact Pelican.
One of the two should take care of it. When you get one that works, you will see it is pretty bombproof.

Thanks for the responses this makes me feel a lot better. Guess I just got a lemon. I'll call opticsplanet tomorrow and see what happens. If I have to pay to ship this giant bitch I'm gonna be real pissed. I'll update and let you know how this gets resolved.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

When I ordered one from optics planet they sent it without the foam and it had a similar problem with the latches. It was a pain dealing with optics planet and I didn't want to pay shipping like they requested (so they could inspect the case). I got fed up contacted pelican and they paid for shipping both ways, and got me a new case w/ the foam. Just what happened with me might be different for you.Good luck, pelican will back it though so that's the good part.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

I would send it back to the vendor you bought it from, you paid for brand new undamaged, that's what you deserve, if it was a used case Pelican will take of you

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

I would hate to contact Pelican in that they are one step removed (optics planet purchased it from pelican and you purchased it from optics planet). That being said if you don’t get satisfaction with the vendor you are not left with much of a choice. That being said it also speaks to the vendor and their long term interest in you as a customer.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

I would also contact Pelican direct. I've dealt with them in the past on a case I had with the old style latches. Told them one was messed up. They sent me about a dozen latches and a handful of pressure valves, for the road... Great customer service.

    From Pelican's website:

One of the reasons I love Pelican.

It's also why I keep my two year old away from my case.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

I would send it to OpticsPlanet. The only reason I didn't buy a Pelican was because of the latches. I liked the ones on the Boyt's better and they're also just a little bigger.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

Call Optics Planet they will take care of ya. I got a Storm Case from them. Upon arrival I saw the o ring seal was damaged. Optics Planet paid for the return shipping and sent me another one.

    Re: Pelican 1750 problem?

UPDATE: Contacted Pelican and a woman told me to contact Optics Planet first. Contacted Optics Planet and he said to send it back and they would send me a new one. I read the return policy online and it wasnt too specific about return shipping and the guy didnt mention it. I called Pelican back and she said to hold on as she contacted Optics Planet. When she returned on the phone she said she talked to a guy and they would send me a return shipping label. Printed out the label and will return it tomorrow. Btw just got my new rifle today =]
