i was wondering if any one had the atf rules on this?
i was wondering if it mattered witch end you Pined and welded. say i was to pin and weld the barrel nut. this would permitly attach them together making it one hole barrel right? insted of the length in front its behind. the overall lenght is still over legal rifle length. is there somewhere that says you have to attach it it the front?

You can't pin an weld the barrel nut

First of all...you CANNOT pin and weld a barrel nut.

Aside from that...the minimum "barrel length" must be 16" or must otherwise be registered as a short-barreled rifle. i.e. - By pinning/welding a FH/muzzle device of 1.5" in length to a 14.5" barrel, you get the minimum legal barrel length. Attempting to pin/weld a barrel nut (although I am betting you meant a barrel extension) adds zero length to the barrel in terms of minimum legal length.

thats what i thought. that it was measured from the breech. that answers my question.thanks for you time

i'll just have to move to a more gun friendly state and register one as a sbr if i want it short. (NY SUCKS)

i'll stick with 16"

thanks again
