Getting ready to order a pistol can and im looking at the sico hybrid 46 and the osprey 45 long version. Is the 46 really going to be worth it to have the other calibers? Note I have a SAS resistor already and a TBAC 338 on the way. So more rifle cans aren't a big deal but maybe a 450 bushmaster suppressed would be cool? The price difference is about 250 ish

I have a hybrid with over 3000 rounds through it now. Have shot the full spread through it from 9mm up to 338lm.

Pros: light...supresses mid range centerfire rifle really well. Durable bafflestack. Removeable anchor brake endcap really helps take recoil off. Highly versitle can. Might be the quietest can I have heard suppressing 45 acp.

Cons: outer sleeve is glued on. I have a tight knit shooting group with probably 30 cans between us all @kocustoms , 3 of us with hybrids all 3 have had the sleeve unglue under full auto fire. Not a huge deal as the end cap keeps the sleeve on the can. Not the best option for 9mm and 338 lapua is not hearing safe also kicks pretty good. You can end up spending a ton on attachments. I like the 556 9mm and the 30 Cal brake. All the others are unnecessary imo. Also my suppressor sights don't clear the can.

I still think it's a great option for 450 Bushmaster. On of the guys I shoot with uses his on his 458 socom exclusively and it sounds good. I would still buy it again honestly for my needs.

I thought only the Omega was glued. Can not find any info on the hybrid being that way.

They both are I can post a video and pictures later of me taking the sleeve off... The difference is the hybrids sleeve is threaded on the chamber end and the end cap extends over the muzzle end pinning the sleeve holding it in place so it can't go anywhere unlike the omegas where it heads down range out of nowhere.

that makes more sense

I'm not a tech guy can't figure out how to post a video from my phone but here are a couple pics of my hybrid showing the endcap overlapping the sleeve, the threads on the baffle stack that hold the sleeve on etc

Since you don't really need the full power rifle capability of the hybrid, I'd probably opt for something lighter for pistol use. I also want pistol cans to be user serviceable so I can shoot cheaper lead bullets if I want. You might look at the Rugged Obsidian .45, pretty light, quiet, modular, user serviceable and rated for .44 mag, .450 BM and .45-70 out of 16" barrels.

I like the Omega 9k for 9mm pistols, it's the only pistol caliber I suppress save .22. The Omega 9k doesn't make the pistol rifle length and works with a G26. I also have a multi use Liberty can, a Mystic X that is devoted entirely to 9mm use currently (wanna use it in an integral 9mm something). Decent can, just too long for my taste on a handgun.

I would really stop and think about how much you are going to use a pistol can. I think for most people, they are a novelty to use every once in a while. If you do some reflection and realize you are going to use it a ton for pistol, then that may justify a pistol only rated and size can. But if you will only use it every once in a while on pistol, then get a multi cal can. Ultimately its your money and time waiting though.

like i said in the OP, i have a 308 can and a 338 ultra on order, so rifle stuff isnt really needed, i do like that fact that the octane and the obsidian work with 22lr because i dont have a 22 can yet, and with getting into 22NRL id like that ability, i suppose next season

I don’t think you will be happy with a largish can on a 22. I would wager that for most people that shoot 22LR at all, a 22 can is their most used can. I personally would put a dedicated 22 can way before getting a pistol can, especially since you know you will be shooting 22 alot.

Yes! If you are considering shooting .22LR at all, order one asap to start the wait.
