Not sure which rifle it will match but either Scar17 it PSW MK216, both 16” barrel. Purpose is mid-range target and hunting, roughly 100-400y. Illuminated for sure.
I’d prefer FFP and ability to use CQB if necessary (I can mount a 45 degree rmr if push comes to shove) and in about the 2-12 magnification area.

All of this is easy to find but where I get hung up is finding this with a BDC reticle. I don’t get to shoot much and local ranges don’t extend beyond 100y so I want some help in getting on target. Note: I will NOT take a 400y shot on a deer before actually taking a 400y shot on paper and ensuring I’m gtg. In nearly any possible case except SHTF, I won’t be in a situation beyond 300y but this is intended to be my ‘good’ scope and I want it to be right for nearly all situations.

Partial to Trijicon; if the Accupoint had a BDC reticle, I’d be in heaven. Might be low rent for some of y’all but I think they’re great.

Anyway, little help please!

Nightforce nx8 2.5-20 F1 with the mil-c reticle sounds like it would fit the bill.

*edit*
I should have clarified, that’s not a “BDC” reticle...just a hashed mil reticle, which is much more useful like Hollywood mentioned below.

The SCAR is known to eat optics, the MK216 would likely be more optic friendly.
You won't find much love for BDC reticles here.
Honestly, a good mil based reticle is all you need, you can figure the holdovers easily.
However, there is this:

And this: (I'm partial to the circle dot for hunting)

OP, the issue with BDC is not that they don't work, but that they are designed to work within a given set of parameters. If you contact the manufacturer of any given scope with BDC reticle they will usually give you the mil or moa value of those ballistic hashmarks; however, if you get your atmospherics and your muzzle velocity and the BC of your bullet you can plug that into a good ballistics calculator and see what it says, my guess is it will be off. That's because your rifle, your ammo and your atmospherics are different from the baseline the manufacturer used for their BDC reticle. Granted you mentioned shooting within 400yds so the degree with which your ballistics will be "off" from the BDC marks may be within acceptable tolerances/kill zone; however, once you extend your shooting further out the difference could be a miss. Like others mentioned above, a good ffp mil reticle (or moa) will be better off in the long run. Get your ballistics and run your DOPE, print out a ballistics sheet and you'll be amazed at much more your understand what your bullet is doing in different situations that allow you to make better shot placement in the future.

As for scopes, check out the Burris XTR II 2-10x42, it is a great scope for the price (really good deals these days) with a decent reticle. The new Meopta Optika6 2.5-15x44 might be another great choice, the Hide's own @koshkin designed some reticles for these scopes which are great for quick acquisition. I would also recommend your idea of an RMR at 45 because long range scopes just aren't the greatest for CQB and an offset RDS is fantastic for this, but one can train to cover the objective (cap) and turn on illumination and just use the illuminated crosshair with both eyes open in a pinch, there is a term for this that alludes me right now but others should be able to chime in.
