Ok I am a noob at long distance target shooting I have pistol shot and hunted all my life, my questions are these.... I am topping off my rifle with a nightforce nsx 5.5-22-50, I know 1m.o.a. is close to 1/4 of an inch at 100 yards, does that mean if i want to adjust for an inch I adjust 4 clicks, also to adjust for an inch at 200-300-400-etc would the adjustments become greater at the greater distances?

1''-100yrd=4clicks
1''-200yrd=???
1''-300yrds=???
1''-400yrds=???
you can see where I am going with this.... also can someone explain the adjustments on the Nightforce scope for me? I am used to sigting in my hunting rifle and leaving it at that, not dialing in bullet drop at long distances for target shooting with a tactical scope....

1MOA is ~1.047"@100yds. Your NF scope if it has MOA adjustments, a .25MOA adjustment moves the bullet impact ~.26"@100yds. A word of advance: DO NOT COUNT CLICKS. Clicks don't mean anything. Think, speak and listen in MOA or Mils.

I can't get more specific than that, since you didn't say what reticle you have in your scope.

Re: Please help with questions!!

yep your right moa at 200 = 2.094, 300 = 3.141 400 = 4.188 etc get you a good ballistic calc and play around with it, you are just starting a new game that will leave you with millions of new (more) questions

Re: Please help with questions!!

TJB,

Go to the top of this section and click the "Optics FAQs" thread. All the answers to your questions and more are contained in that thread. Study these closely before you make your purchase.

You stated you have not purchased your scope yet. Ensure your reticle and turrets are the same - "Mil-Mil" or "MOA-MOA". You will most likely regret it they are mixed.

Do a search for "Mil or MOA" in the "Subject" line. There are many threads addressing this oft-asked question. Make your decision carefully - your don't want to drop $$$$ and regret it later.
