PLRF cables

Anyone on the Hide manufacture or know of alternative supplier for the Vectronix PLRF compatible data cables ( PLRF to PDA/GPS etc), that don't cost the fantastic price Vectronix demand?

Typically they are a five pin LEMO to RS232 (plus trigger switch),...

I looked all over for these and cost about $60USD to make the straight cable but could not find any information on origin of the trigger assembly. So I knuckled under and got from Europtics but the cable works great. No markings on the trigger and Vectronix directly was unresponsive to the trigger make/model.

Tried Vectronix too,..little help other than asking me why I would want to make cable up myself!!

There was nothing in the manual for my PLRF10C, but I may have found a clue elsewhere. Look at page 55 of the Vector manual:

The schematic doesn't explicitly state how to remotely trigger the rangefinder, but I'm pretty dang sure that connecting pin 2 to pin 3 will activate the "distance" function, and pin 1 to pin 3 will activate the "azimuth" function.

Yes,..I saw the schematics in the Vector manual before. But,..unless you get the pin/function arrangement correct you may risk a fried rangefinder. The 5 pin LEMO config on the PLRF is different than that on the Vectors.

Yes,..I saw the schematics in the Vector manual before. But,..unless you get the pin/function arrangement correct you may risk a fried rangefinder. The 5 pin LEMO config on the PLRF is different than that on the Vectors.

Is the pin out different? I understood the same cable is sold for both PLRF and Vectors?

I'm looking for one too if you find a source or if I can help spread the cost.
