Cancer starts in California

So Biden mandated remote mileage collection in new cars.

New CA budget proposal included a mileage tax. As people would revolt over paying an extra 6-10 cents a mile on top of the gas tax and carbon offset tax, they want to tax new homes/ condos/ apartments and the fee will be paid over 30 year mortgage payments.

Why should you care? If it survives in CA, it will get national push

Overview of AB 130 and the Mileage Tax

Assembly Bill 130 (AB 130) introduces a new fee structure in California that links housing development to vehicle miles traveled (VMT). This legislation aims to address housing shortages while also considering transportation impacts.

Key Features of the Mileage Tax

Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) Fees

  • Purpose: To mitigate significant transportation impacts caused by new housing developments.
  • Implementation: Local governments can impose fees on developers based on the projected increase in vehicle miles due to new housing.
  • Cost Impact: Fees could add approximately $16,000 per unit, which may be passed on to homebuyers and renters.

Financial Implications

  • Increased Housing Costs: The VMT fees are viewed as a hidden tax that could raise the cost of new homes significantly, potentially making housing less affordable.
  • Rent Increases: New apartment rents could rise by about $1,350, representing a 48% increase over the state’s median rent.

i saw this same kind of thing decades ago...
i was fired after i confronted a "doctor" that had ordered a cat scan on a dying liver cancer patient.
the patient was "no-code", meaning if he went into cardiac or respiratory failure, they would let him die.
well, the patient coded 1/2 way through, and the "doctor" told the nurses and techs to finish the scan so they could bill it.
i went off...and then got fired.

this was back when almost everyone was 20/80, so the family would be paying for some of that scan on their dead father.
