I sent an email to FEMA yesterday asking about the report of the employee telling workers to avoid Trump supporting homes. I actually received a response quickly and here it is:
Good evening. Thank you for reaching out.
FEMA’s core values and principles are to help people regardless of political affiliation and this was a clear violation of those core values. The employee has been terminated and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel.
We believe this was an isolated incident, but we are taking steps to prevent this from happening ever again.
The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes and we have since sent another team to ensure all homes in the affected area were offered help in registering for assistance.
This is a matter that we take extremely seriously and we are doing everything we can to make sure all survivors receive support from FEMA.

Here's the thing - In a Federal org, people like this employee don't pull this kind of crap unless they feel empowered to do so. There is no way this lady (yep, a woman) would have done this unless the culture around her - specifically up the chain - had promoted anti-conservative thought and philosophy.
