I'm armed security at my church. Sunday, about 2/3 of the way in - a guy who used to come a lot, but disappeared about 9 months ago walked in. He was carrying something in both hands. The foyer light was turned off. I never knew that without that foyer light, that the light coming through the front door glass would only silhouette someone coming through the door. I didn't recognize him, only that he wasn't one of our regular members.

He waved as I moved in my chair to face him and started to get up. That bought just enough time for me to see that he was holding his hat, some papers, and a couple other items together in his hands as he walked in. Not going to lie, I had spent a split-second in that mental territory of "aw crap, I don't want to have to do this today". I felt guilty later for even having that thought cross my mind. Then I felt guilty for not being better prepared.

I fear the church shooting acts will only continue to increase. It is a shame that we even have to worry about it at all.

From now on, I'll check that foyer light every day as I come in too.
Good on you for filling that role. That resignation and commitment you felt when you got up is why real life for the aware is an endurance event.

Gold price reaches $4,000 an ounce for the first time ever

This makes me very happy…and sad.

I moved a lot of one of my main retirement accounts into physical gold and silver over the past 10 years (‘paper gold’) as a backstop against inflation, and it’s doing really, really well but this should make everyone nervous as hell. The dollar’s slide is accelerating, and wildly so.

Good farmland around here was going for $250K+/quarter 6 months ago. Yesterday several quarters went for $480K apiece. It has to be “free $$$” to the orgs or individuals spending it, because no one can figure how a farmer/rancher can make their investment back. Look up where Dawson Creek is; not close or particularly hospitable to anywhere. Also, we have had 4 yrs of drought, the last 3 so bad the town water source will show “0 flow” over the winter. WTF, how long can this shit continue without a crash. I don’t think the camel’s back can take much more.

Every fucking time.
he admitted to it.. poor kid only 13 years old

And now he's going to pardon Ole Gizzie face

Something hit me while in the shower thinking about his disgusting answer, not the "Well, I haven't heard her name in so long" bold face lie, but his answer on how he could consider it and will ask the DOJ to look into it.

Hear me out.

Any idea when this press conference was held/video from yesterday? I think the bigger question is—who planted that seed with some left-field question about something that's so 15 minutes ago?

I like to know which "reporter" teed up that question. I would check the WH visitor logs, but this administration decided not to make those public any longer, last time I checked.

He literally just says he knows nothing about it and would have to talk to the DOJ… click bait meant to elicit an angry response.
'Who????? I haven't heard that name in a loooong time.' —Pull this leg and it plays the black national anthem.

In fact, he uttered her name at least 4 times by my count thus far, when asked on August 5th about pardoning her after the deposition.

It was all over the news a couple months ago when his DOJ lawyer went to depose her in front of her lawyer, who, and you can't make this shit up, is buddies with said lawyer and did podcasts together. Oh, okay.

Need someone on the outside watching, your already behind the eight ball if you’re catching someone already on the inside.

This shit will stop when people stop it.

I guess when it impacts her kids, America plays second fiddle—sounds like she hasn't been getting tapped by the 'sexual guru' in awhile...

since most people can't afford insurance without a $3000+ deductible, lots of people are just paying cash for non-insured rates rather than paying way more for the insured rate towards their deductible. i hope john mstain is burning in hell for his treachery.

"Intelligence assets...big assumption out there that these video tapes were exclusively in the custody of Epstein." Nope, others had the feeds from the cameras and from inside the planes with the "special" room. Huh.

recent story on oann was about how the fbi under reports the number of times an armed citizen stops a killer.
they were caught years ago reporting 1/4 of the events.
recently it got much worse (reportedly) and even when the fbi is advised of missing incidents in their report, they will acknowledge the discrepancy, but never bother to update their reports.

Note that LA didn’t have any night stalking for a while afterwards

I just received an email from them about 'finding lost animals' and using our cameras to follow Frodo...was going to post. They really think we're stupid (59% probably are, but I digress).

"Search Party" lololol

The picture of the billionaire and his dog was a nice touch.

Hello Neighbor,
I’m proud to introduce Search Party, a new feature coming soon to Ring that helps reunite lost dogs with their families. Our mission at Ring is to make neighborhoods safer and as someone who loves their dog “almost” (well, maybe equal, but not sure I’m supposed to say that) as much as my human family members, pets certainly deserve to be part of this mission.
Here’s how it works: When a neighbor reports a lost dog in the Ring app, those with outdoor Ring cameras start a Search Party. Using AI to look for possible matches, your outdoor cameras will notify you if they spot what might be the missing dog. Ring will show you a picture of the lost dog and relevant camera footage. With Ring’s Search Party, your privacy is always in your control. You can ignore the alert, or choose to be the neighborhood hero and share the info with your neighbor in need.
What to expect: We’ll be upgrading outdoor Ring cameras with Search Party, rolling out in November. When Search Party is available in your area, your outdoor cameras will let you know when they spot a potential missing dog and you choose if you want to share relevant videos. You can always turn off Search Party on your outdoor Ring cameras in the Ring app’s Control Center. We hope to include cats in the future.
The features we’re rolling out at Ring are designed to assist in supercharging neighbors helping neighbors. Search Party will be free for anyone to use in the neighborhood. We believe that every dog deserves to be found, even if their owner bought the wrong camera :). Simple, privacy-first features like Search Party make it easier to look out for each other and build the kind of neighborhood we all want to live in.
Thank you for working to make our neighborhoods safer for all of us — including our pets.

They also black-holed the original description of the show, "Last Man on Earth." It used to say, "The year is 2020, and a virus wiped out..."

Revised now to "Almost two years after...."

Weird. It's almost like, well, you know....

Unsure how Little Rocket Man has Aegis radar on his new ship w/ three launch tubes. Maybe the Chinese coders who were servicing Windows networks in the Pentagon/DoD?

I disagree with this logic. Trying to make the Republicans as heroes will not work. Making people get hungry and showing the Democrats as the assholes they are would be much more affective in my opinion.
I hear you, but that scheme only works if you are sure you can pin the blame fully on the Democrats. Hell, 49% of Americans believe anything they see on CNN/MSDNC/Fox, so that's a risky play, Cotton.

Here they play Santa Claus and deliver scrumptious gifts to those in need, because 'no one goes hungry on Trump's watch.' I like it. :)
