Suppressors Potential Hassles for having a Suppressor?

I dream of having a suppressor to eliminate my need for ear protection on my Rem 700 .243 and, hopefully, just give me one more shot at those hogs...

Just wondering because of all the regulations and gov't paperwork if anyone feels any future heat from Big Brother having their name attached to one of these.
Isn't a suppressor the kind of thing that these gun control people target?
Not that I have anything to hide, being law abiding and a 'minister' LOL

We're going to be safer and better of than most in Texas brother! But no, I don't foresee any more potential "heat". It is already pretty regulated as it is.
I've never gotten any flack for having one.

I would say the roughly 6 month wait time is the worst hassle.

6 months!!! I have some connections in law enforcement at both state and federal, we'll see how long it takes.
But first have to get the money.
There's a guy in Aransas Pass (Jet Suppressors) who makes them in titanium in my caliber.

Hannibalsnipes, from what I have heard some of the sheriffs here in Texas are simply not giving required written approval.
What have you heard or experienced?

Yeah good luck with that. There is only about 9 people at the ATF that approve Form 4's. They have brought in temps and are training a couple more people but as of right now they are swamped.

If your local Leo won't give you approval then you might want to consider a Trust. You can then bypass local LEO approval.

And here are a couple good links on purchasing a suppressor that I recommend you read first.

My dad's neighbor is an ATF agent and he had to wait for approval like the rest of us, LEO connections won't help in this situation unless you can prove that the weapon is job related and urgently needed I have seen them help guys out sometimes but you would still have a significant wait.

LOL... Wish I had a quarter for every time I heard that.. Thanks for the laugh... I needed that.

Only problems are having enough money to buy more NFA items and broke dick friends wanting to shoot them all the time but not willing to buy one for themselves because "The feds will kick their door in at 2 a.m." LOL

Never had any issues other than those.

There are so many laws on the books RE suppressors allready, if anything they will become less restrictive in the future, I hope.... So no they will not be banning them anytime soon...

As long as someone like Adam Lanza doesn't decide to use it....

Just be glad his mother didn't have a suppressor equipped AR-15....be even more glad that she didn't have the funds to legally purchase a M-16.

Also, do a little research on JET suppressors. I didn't do enough research and bought a Shooter's Depot suppressor, which comes with all the frustrating awful customer service of JET, and doesn't even function once you get it. Forget about buying from any manufacturer in S. Texas. Look up Silenced America in N. Texas and go with a big name brand. You can handle everything over the phone/email and he will ship it straight to your door once your forms come back approved. Good prices too.

NRA-ILA | Texas: Use of Lawfully-Owned Suppressors While Hunting Legalized in the Lone Star State (1)

you are good from the texas state portion. just keep a copy of the stamp with you and you will be good to go incase anyone asks. just be polite and say 'would you like to take a look at my ATF Tax Stamp Paperwork?"

As others have said, no hassles with having one other than the wait and wanting one for every stick you own once you get the first one. I went the trust route even though my local sheriff is currently signing for them. Two reasons: 1. If local sheriff does not get re-elected or changes his mind, then the trust ensures I am still good to go, 2. I have me wife, son, brother and father on the trust so anyone of us are legal to have it in their possession. If something happens to me it also will not leave my wife more worries to deal with other than the barbecue to through celebrate. For me it was 250.00 for the trust and I have never regretted it.
As someone mentioned, Silenced America there in Tx. is a good company to deal with.

No such thing as hearing safe with full power supersonic loads so forget that. It may not be hurt your ears that you can tell but it is still doing damage. Shooting subsonic is a different story.
