Guess what-I have a Savage 110BA coming to papa in 300WM! Been drooling for months. Now it's coming. So, what's a good powder to shoot? IMR7828SC? RL22? It's my understanding that 180 gr bullets are a good one to use in 300 WM? Kinda like 168's are the go-to for .308. I'd sure appreciate some info from fellow shooters.

If you are gonna shoot the 300, shoot heavier bullets. 190s are as low as I'd go. For powder, you have RL22, H1000, 7828, H4831, RL19, VV165 and maybe a few others. I only have experience with RL22 and H1000, and settled on H1000.

I have some RL22 and H4831SC from my .25-06, which happens to be for sale. Original owner. Less than 200 rds shot. Very accurate!

4831sc and 190's is a pretty good combo,or the standard h1000 and 208 amax's.
rl22 is pretty good also but not as temp stable as the 4831.
if i had a stock of those 2 powders i would grab some 190's and load away till i
was out of them, then get some h1k and go the 208amax route.

The one important fact left out is the twist rate of the new stick you have coming? If it is a 10 twist, Berger 215 Hybrids over H1000 with Federal 215 primers and never look back.

I have had great results with 79.2 gr H1000, Feds, berger 190 VLD -.01". Fire 3040 FPS out of my 27" and is crazy accurate. I love H1000

I get the best results with 180 gr projectiles with H4350, but have used IMR 7828 and H4831 also. 1:11 twist rate. All depends on what your gun likes.....

I've shot out to 1300 yards with 180 gr bullets, and IMR4350. 168s were pretty bad SS out to 800 yards.

i really like the 210 vld's, and 178 amax with H1000, i tried a long combination of several powders, primers, seating depths but had a hard time getting the 208 amax under .6 moa consistently.

You have a big case full of powder. Don't waste it on light bullets. For long range the 208 AMAX works awesome pushed by H1000.

Yes times ten. 208 Amax is the smallest bullet I shoot from a 300wm and H1000 is great (well I did mess around with some 110 vmaxes and Varget but that wasn't very serious and it would be hard to recommend Varget as a great 300 WM powder)
