Are there any foreseeable issues with building a repeater out of a Pre 64 CRF action?

I'm just about ready to place my order with XLR, when it occurred to me. I don't even know if my CRF action will reliably strip rounds and feed from an AI mag.

Is it a viable concern or just one of those imaginary issues from over thinking a project?

I have an FN SPR (a rebadged CRF Win70), chambered in 284Win. I am using Alpha mags.

Not only does it feed from the magazine perfect, but the shape of the Alpha mag follower allows me to drop a cartridge on top of the feedlips, and put it into battery without causing the extractor to jump over the rim of the cartridge. Essentially, as the bolt pushes that cartridge forward, there is a "trough" in the follower that the ass-end of the cartridge falls into, allowing the casehead to get under the extractor. As the bolt is pushed forward more, the cartridge begins it's ascent into the chamber, and becomes captivated by the extractor.

Of course, when feeding cartridges from the magazine, the extractor gets a hold of the casehead before cartridge is pushed out of the magazine.

I think you're probably overthinking it.

CDI makes bottom metal that utilizes AI mags for the FN SPR (Win Mod 70 CRF). Those systems don't seem to have any issues so my guess would be 'no issue' in your case. Just a guess though...
