This is my Tikka CTR in 308. My intention was to shoot the factory stock for a while, but I found the ergonomics to be lacking. I plan on competing in PRS this year and decided to go ahead and put the money down on the chassis and couldn't be happier.

-Tikka CTR w/ 20" barrel
-KRG Bravo Stock w/ CTR mag inlet
-KRG Spigot & KRG Harris wide mount
-Harris Bipod w/ PodLock
-Sterk Swept Back Bolt Handle and Shroud
-Athlon Cronus
-Vortex Rings
-Vortex Bubble level
-Insite Arms Heathen Muzzle break w/ .885 diamter
-SAP Two Round Holder

My favorites.
Older R700 XCR long range tactical in 223. Has a factor 40x trigger in it.
New Sako A7 Roughtech A7 308. So far so good. Ordered a bolt shroud, and floorplate from Atlasworxs. Talley 20moa base on the way.

How do you like Sako's cheapie model?

Have had it maybe a week so I am not able to say much until it goes hunting.

Its a wash. I like the action, and removable bases, trigger, and recessed crown. I like that the bolt handle isn't silver soldered to the body and is replaceable. I don't have to rely on brazing skills of a smith or modify the bolt body if I decide to change handles. Scope mount holes are aligned correctly, Stock is ok for a factory stock. It flexes about the same as any other B&C I've had. No extractor issues yet brass doesn't hit the scope and bounce back in. Most of the bolt parts are interchangeable with the 75 which is nice. The action feels better than the Tikka. The gun is well made, fit and finish are excellent. The 5 shot guarantee is a nice touch.

The floorplate and magazine on the other hand are terrible. The safety is good, though I do worry about dirt causing problems (most likely it won't).
Gun is pretty accurate, not going to judge it until I start reloading and buying quality ammo for it.

The floorplate can be replaced easily with a metal one from atlasworx, but the magazine can't. I don't think a proper DBM would really be possible due to the way the mag feeds into the gun, lugs are part of the receiver (they may be removable). I question the longevity of the floor plate from magazines being inserted and removed overtime. Since it is plastic it will probably be damaged overtime. The lugs are metal. I am going to upgrade it ASAP.

I think a modified AI single stack could work if a lug was added to the front of the mag and the rear lugs removed. The gun would have been much better served if it was sold with a hinged floorplate instead of the magazine. The magazine works and has metal feedlips, but I worry about finding replacements in the future (10 years or more).

Its getting harder to find Sako's (at least for me) in the US, and it was onsale, regularly 1299 but I got it for 799 plus tax. It felt good and was replacing a Remington 700 SPS. I wanted something with some "class". My choices were between the Tikka varmint, Kimber 8400 police , and the Sako. I probably should have shopped around some more. I liked the feel of the sako and thought I could get a DBM for it, I didn't realize that CDI precision's owner had passed. Had I known that I may have went with something else.

The gun is still eligible for some decent stock upgrades, McMillan has a few options that I like. B&C, and Boyds and some others make some inexpensive stocks that will work as well. Haven't seen a chassis for it yet.

I like it better than the cheaper R700's, Savages, and Tikka's, and ect, but that magazine design just kills it. Yes it feeds well, and isn't a problem but I do question how long the magazines will last and if Beretta will keep importing them to the US. I am tempted to mill out some aluminum blocks and make a metal bodies and followers for the mag but that's a future endeavor.

Sorry for the book and hopefully my opinions aren't too over the top.

The "book" is fine: more than I expected but not too much.
I suspected that many of the things that really matter will be fine but there must be something not-all-that-great in a lower cost model. There's some plastic mags out there that seem to last. My Glock mags are a bit old already, but no worse for it.

That's what I am hoping, over all I put the gun up there with a lot of the higher end 700's like the 700p, vls and XCR LRT. With fit and finish and what not. We'll see tomorrow how it does with some handloads.

I just ordered a Tikka CTR 20" in 6.5 Creedmoor that I"m putting into a KRG Bravo with an aluminum W-3 fore-end. I'm very excited to see how a compact 6.5 shoots. I think it'll be a great rifle. I like your setup. After I shoot the barrel out of the Tikka I'll probably put a Proof carbon barrel on it to shed some weight.

It's not at the level of most rifles here but I've enjoyed it anyways. Accuracy is about 3/4 MOA which is good enough for me for now.

Savage 10 FCP-SR barreled action
24" barrel / .308 Win
VG6 Gamma brake
MDT Oryx chassis
Harris bipod w/ Larue QD
Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27
Vortex Precision Matched Rings
Aadmount caps

Remington 700 SBR chambered in .300 Blackout, 8" barrel, sitting in a Black Collar Arms Pork Sword Chassis with Sig Sauer folding stock, Magpul bipod, AI mags, Vortex 1-6 Strike Eagle, Vortex Rings and YHM can. I'm getting 1,770 fps - 869 ft lbs at 50m and 1,439 fps - 575 ft lbs at 200m with my 125 gn Hornady SST handload. I hope to get it set up with a thermal and do some predator hunting soon.

Mountain tactical 20MOA rail, Leupold MK4 rings, and a Leupold MK5HD 3.6-18 scope. I’ve got a Timney trigger on the way. Going out to break in the barrel today if the snow lets up.

Which mag are you using with your Oryx and does it fit perfectly or slightly off? I am running the PMAG 10 7.62 AC (AICS pattern) mags in mine (Savage action) and they fit "ok", but drag a bit in the magwell and it takes a little more push than I like to lock it up solid. They all have little worn grooves where they are little too tight in there.

It's MDT's new poly/metal mag. It fits perfectly. I also have a pmag that doesn't fit that well.

I am building one very similar this year. Beautiful set up!

Mine with brand new stock from @ejg ?

- Tikka T3 CTR .260 rem 20”
- PSE Composites E-Tac 4 CTR mil-spec with ARCA-rail
- Falcon Optics M18+ 4-18x44
- Warne X-Skel
- Harris kind of bipod and chinese M-lok to sling stud adapter
- VTAC wide padded upgraded sling
- GrovTec Heavy Duty Push Button Swivels
- Jaki Semi Classic supressor
- Tikka OEM metallic bolt shrout
- Chinese bubble level

It started as a low budget rifle but it’s getting awesome. Falcon is obviously next thing to upgrade. I have a Spuhr SP-4601 waiting for Steiner, S&B or Kahles and Falcon will continue service at the top of my P94S where cantilever mount will suit nicely. I also have an ACI which I will install to Spuhr.

At some point I will have a lighter Ase Utra supressor, some quality bipod and maybe a Sterk bolt handle but I still like to keep my budget and try to avoid bling bling. Anyway I want to use only quality parts! It’s all for purpose not for show ?

Fired a shot yet?
What do you think of the arca rail? You are one of the first to have one.

Part List:
  • APR G2 action
  • Criterion Arms Savage Prefit, 22", 6.5 CM, 1-8, Medium Palma
  • Grayboe Ridgeback Woodland Camo
  • Grayboe Bottom Metal
  • Bix'n Andy 2 Stage Tacsport adjusted to 12 oz
  • Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 FFP
  • Vortex Matched Rings 0.97" Tall
  • Atlas bipod and Midway USA rear bag
  • Muzzle brake is TBD
  • Weighs about 13 lbs unloaded, but I wish it where a bit heavier. The CG is just a touch too far back, so balancing the rifle on a bag while shooting off of barricades is tricky. A 24" barrel would have probably solved this problem. Only got to shoot about 250 rds through it last summer because my club's 600 yard range has been closed :/

No I haven't shot it yet. I'll wait for a spring and snow to melt away. It's a bit difficult to shoot at winter because most of places are behind a lot of snow :) I might need to shoot my bear hunting test within few weeks but it's 4 shots to 17cm circle from 75 meters ~7.8MOA so not much shooting there.

I don't use ARCA-rail yet for anything else than bipod which is attached using M-lok in the middle of the rail. I will try tripod some day and I wanted to be ready for that hence the ARCA rail. However I really like the ARCA-rail implementation. It's solid base for bipod installation and it fits very well into the stock. It's also nice to have M-lok in the rail so there is plenty of adapters and bipods suitable to install into ARCA or M-lok. I'm happy that I waited to get ARCA. It's perfect for my need!

The stock itself is also a beauty and fits my hand very well. I might prefer it over OEM TRG stock which is awesome! I just need to take a scope bit more back but not yet because I want to keep zero for that bear shooting test. I think that I can do 7MOA even though a scope is not in the perfect spot :) Best option would be new scope to perfect spot a bit later before summer.
