Rem 700, Sassen buttonrifled barrel, used to be Borden barrels, 1:10, 308 Win, short lead chamber, a 178 Amax at mag lenght is close to lands, 24 inches.

Really rather new, have some loads made up for old barrel, same reamer/smith, seems to be able to hold around 3/4 MOA for 5 @ 100 meters.

I have a thing for Mcmillan,

a Pierce action, krieger barrel 8,5 tw in 6,5 CM, badger dbm and so on, shoots rather well and a lot better than I can manage most days.
Pierce 65 CM.jpg

I also have a T3 that is far lighter but more so leathal, Borden barrel, 8 tw, 6,5 SAUM/GAP turn neck, I have been having issues with penetration with the berger bullets and the more modest swedish ranges so I am shifting over to TTSX and some one those Hornady bullets.

In Sweden and that is my oldest son, proud father, proud son.

Best regards Chris

I absolutely LOVE the marble pattern on the A3-5 stock in the first pic

Always wanted to do a cerakote job that wasn't earth tone or camo...so I went with a Boba Fett theme
25" 25 Creed on a Mausingfield M7
135 Hybrids at 3000fps
March HighMaster 5-42x
How do you like that March? I’ve got a 4.5-28 and was thinking of grabbing a 5-42 to keep it company.

Would like a little more refinement in the reticle but I understand the hurdles of the zoom ratio.
That said, the glass is great, the FOV is incredible and if you can get over the outer edge distortion it's awesome.
I have a lot of optics, but I'm not selling this one unless they offer a more appealing reticle.

No issues with DoF or parallax? I think I can live with a little edge distortion. It would replace an older/less expensive piece of glass, so barring any shootability issues, my sense is that it'll be better all-around even with a minor gripe in the mix. If they put the turrets from the 5-42 on the 4.5-28, I'd be stoked. I'm also thinking about a ZCO 5-27... not sure there's much else out there where the feature set really grabs me.

How about a ZCO 8-40? I don't have much time behind mine, but so far I'm impressed.

This is one of the few high end, high zoom I don't have and would like to try. This and some flavor of S/B. Even in matches, the lowest I usually go is 12 or 14 and 10x at the absolute lowest....so I don't see an issue having 8 on the low end. Seems odd that an 8-40x seems so absurd...but the 5-42 does not. 🤷‍♂️

No, the DoF and Parallax seem as good or better than a lot...but of course that depends how you define "better". It came with an included "objective reducer" (not sure what you really call it) which allows you to increase/decrease the dof to your preference.
I've only shot 2-3 matches with it, but the only complaints I have had during those matches would revolve around the reticle...which is all personal preference. Size doesn't really matter a lot to me, but at 14.1" it's shorter than my TT 5-25 (16.7"), NF 7-35 (16"), Vortex 6-36 (15.3"), Leupold 7-35 (14.7") and Bushy 6-36 (14.8")
Not to clutter up the topic of this thread, but feel free to shoot me a PM if you wanna chat about it.

I must apologize for hijacking the thread. I think my inclination is still for the ZCO 5-27 between the two, but I haven’t seen a direct comparison between them either. I took my March discussion to PM, happy to do the same with ZCO so as not to further distract. Appreciate the suggestion.

One of my favorites.

Surgeon 591 that has been dlc coated
McMillan A3-5 with surgeon bottom metal
Broughton barrel chambered in 223ai
Hawkins Heavy tax one piece mount
Schmidt 5-25

Finally went to the range today, and put the first shots through my new Christensen Arms Ridgeline .280 Ackley. I was shooting through my OCL Hydrogen-L 7.62 suppressor with the new OCL ZR0-DTA 5/8-24 direct thread mount. It’s a ridiculously lightweight setup for a 9” can. You really don’t even notice it on the end, as far as weight goes. It also sounds excellent!

So far still working on load development, so no results to post yet. I did notice that Christensen really cuts the chamber throats short on these. As a handloader, I’m not a fan. They are seated pretty deep into the case neck, even with Berger 168 VLDs. There’s plenty of room left in the magazine well, so I wish they would cut them a little bit longer (more normal). At almost 2 grains less than book load max, I’m already seeing pressure signs and ejector swipes. 😐 I hope it shoots good. But that kind of pissed me off seeing as to how much this rifle costs. I might have to have a gunsmith cut (extend) the throat some, so I can seat the bullets farther out, and they won’t be taking up much needed case capacity to help relieve some chamber pressure.

On top sits an older Zeiss Conquest MC 3-12x56 30mm FFP scope. I’ve had this scope for nearly 15 years. It’s been on quite a few different rifles. It’s sitting in a set of Seekins Precision rings, on an EGW HD base.

Is not a bolt-action…But I'd say this is a precision lever-action… 😏

My dad was a Marlin guy. He passed a few months back, and I inherited his firearms collection…Which included some fairly hard-to-find in good condition vintage Marlins… Including a 1958 336 in .30-30 Win with gloss blue finish, and beautiful tiger-stripe American Black Walnut stocks. An old 60’s or 70’s 336 in .444 Marlin.

And a more recent built (I’m guessing 90’s) NIB 1894 SS in .44 Mag that he never shot or even pulled out of the box. Still had only iron sights and plug screws in the top of the receiver.

So, I decided to mess with the 1894 SS first, as it’s a lightweight and handy little rifle to carry around the woods or property, and I gave it a bit of a modern upgrade… Some purists might consider it blasphemy, but once you see how it shoots, you might reevaluate your opinion.

So, first things first, I needed an optic…So I swapped the Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x24 SFP off of my 16” .300 BLK, leveled it in a set of Seekins Precision 30mm Low rings, and mounted them on the new EGW 0MOA pic rail I got for it, and bore-sighted it with a Sightmark laser that is made to fit in the chamber for individual cartridges. I’m really impressed how close that got me… 2 shot sight-in at 50, then 2 more to zero it at 100.

Since I have owned .44 Mags for many many years, I already had a good collection of factory Hornady LeverEvolution 225gr sitting around, and decided to start there with sight-in and testing loads. This is also where my testing stopped…

Here is a 3-shot group (8” target) @ 100 yards with factory Hornady LeverEvolution 225gr ammo, on a clean bore that only had 4 sight-in rounds through it.
