So how well did it shoot?!?!?! Lol
Got off work too late today and we have freezing rain in northern Colorado so there was no way to make it down to MHSA before they closed. Pretty bummed out about it. But I’m on days off now so tomorrow it is and will have an update some time tomorrow!

I did not shoot well yesterday due to the large amount of people at the range and time constraints but she’s definitely going to be a shooter for sure. Just gonna have to spend more time practiciMy not flinching every time someone shoots next to me lol

@Krob95 Do you have any 5 shot groups?
I don’t. Just basic sight in since I only had a limited amount of time to shoot. Hoping this weekend or early next week I’ll make it out to the outdoor range to do more shooting

Not bad for a first go around.

Getting anxious to receive my barrel
That was with FGMM 130gr Berger OTM. Next outing will be with the Berger 140gr, hornady eld m 140gr and 147gr, and hornady American gunner 140gr bthp.

Got my 1-7 twist 6br Nucleus prefit. Took 3 pieces of scotch tape on my no-go gauge before it would no go. Checked it on my Archimedes and same. Outside looks great but that’s not confidence inspiring, it’s headed back. And NOT with my action.

Here’s some of my groups from 200 yards and was the next 45 rounds down the tube. I’m not sure if I just rushed the Berger’s or if they’re that bad compared to the hornady offerings. Cheap lapua brass tho

I have 52 total rounds down the pipe. First 25 for smoothing the throat and getting a somewhat zero. 75 Hornady hpbt (AR fodder) used. That was 1st day out, nothing spectacular, 2, around 1 inch groups shot with the last 10 rounds. Barrel only brushed out to clean at range.

Second trip out with 27 85.5 Bergers for a 3 round each depth, gross seating depth test; .005 off, .015, .030, .060, .090
.015 gave best 3 round group of .166 and surprisingly, .060 gave a .263
21 grains of N-150 propelling the projectiles, encased in LC-16 with Rem. 7 1/2 SRPz.

Will be doing a pressure ladder ena velocity in the future. From what I'm seeing the Berger powder recommends are very conservative.

100 bucks. And they have my barrel nut wrench still because I forgot to get it back so you’re covered there lol they will uninstall your current barrel, install, and headspace. Idk if they test fire or not. What barrel did you get??

Looks good. Mine is scheduled to be here tomorrow. Hoping to get together and out for some test shots this weekend

Got my barrel installed, and muzzle break on.....but need to remove a little of the handguard. Not a big deal with the tools at the shop.

Will say the finish and quality the barrel looks too notch. Planning on putting some rounds through it Friday, just for function tests.

Hello, any more reports on these barrels? What are your cold bore shots like? Does the barrel foul? Any body bore scope one? Thank you.

G.

I borescoped mine when I found out it was neck reamed twice!
Ordered on 8/27/19 ...still don't have a barrel.

Ordered a 6.5wsm, the chamber neck was way over .6" long! Not .3". Sent it back. Talked to the rep. he said they used a 257wsm for the body and a 6.5 neck reamer and they neck reamed it too far.... well NO SHIT.

Wanted to hunt whitetail this season with it, not now!

I never shot it. Will report back when I get the new one back.

I picked up one in 224 valkyrie havent had time to put it on my action yet. Still trying to find the headspace gauges for it. Does anyone know where to get them from?

Try Elkridge Reamer Rentals. Looks like they have them.

Got mine out to the range to test some different ammo.... seemed to like the 140 American Gunner the best!

anyone shot one out yet? How’s it lasting compared to other barrels?

Ordered mine up! 260 rem for the origin prefit. 26” 1/8 twist mtu contour. Was told 4-5 weeks. I had emailed and asked about reamer dimensions and they had no problem telling me what I asked. Said most of their reamers are saami match, so the neck on the .260 is a .295 which is exactly what my carbon barrel was teamed to. Excited to see how it shoots!! On a side note with these, how tight have the barrel to action threads been for everyone?

Very happy with my PBB barrel.
I have been doing seating depth and velocity ladders with various powders and 2 projectiles.
Unfortunately, my range time has been bureaucratically curtailed due to incompetent kommie cock suckers and what used to take a couple of days now takes 4eva.

Threads were quite snug. Getting good velocity and groups with 80vld and 85.5 hybrids.

Once they fixed the threads on my barrel it fit good. It shoots sub moa with factory ammo but I’m going to get into reloading to see if my groups will shrink a little more.

I finally got my 308 barrel attached and the barrel threads mate up perfectly zero wobble in the barrel. It gauges perfect with it being hand tight on my nucleus action and repeats to the same spot when I take it on and off. Just waiting on my 224 valkyrie go gage to check that barrel too. Cant wait to get it out to the range and see how it groups.

I would try one if they had shouldered origin prefits for that price. But for a barrel nut i will stick with xcaliber or criterion since they are priced so similar.
They do, did you check their web site?

24.7 H4895 in a 3x fired Lapua .223 brass with a Remmy 7.5 srp sent some Bergers(10) of 85.5 grains down range at AVG 2894 with sd of 10 and es of 28.
Coal was ~2.530 BTO 1.903, .015 off.
I have tried Varget, N150, RL15 and H4895 with the winner being the H4895.
I'm pretty much a .5 or better shooter (although the older I get the better I waz) and most groups were there (.5) with quite a few less. In my seating depth test I had a .1something 3 round group.
I now have 216 rounds thru the pipe and very happy I bought this barrel.
This is mated to a stock Howa action.

Been to fricken cold up here to shoot much, along with lots if overtime at work. Hoping once things settle down I can get out and put more rounds through.

I have a 22” 6 Dasher Norma barrel I got in for a Bighorn Origin but I’m still waiting on the action. I also have a 24” 224 Valkyrie 1/7 but sadly it is NOT stabilizing the 90gr FGMM or the 90gr Fusion at all here in Fort Worth TX at 700 ASL. Here’s my 100y group from a bench rest with rear bag. I will need to get in contact with them and see what’s up with this.

I'm pretty sure for the 90s you need a 1:6.5 twist barrel. I was told that the 88s are about the highest you can go with a 1:7 and even that's iffy at times.

195 rounds in and she’s shooting pretty decent. This was after installing a two stage timney as well and having it in a different chassis. 140gr eldm 6.5 cm. 4rd group @100yd in Colorado. Waiting on the rest of my reloading components to arrive in the mail so I can reload for this thing.

I think you’re right despite what Federal is saying because I think that they tested the Valkyrie at a much higher altitude so it may have worked for them but it isn’t working here at 700 ft ASL. The heaviest I can get to stabilize has been the 85gr RDF and the 85.5gr Berger Hybrids. Also the 78gr Barnes TSX is not stabilizing and after doing some research I found that the 78gr Barnes TSX has a similar shape and length to the 90gr SMK. I don’t know if this is true or not but do solid copper bullets require a faster twist than similar bullets?

I'm not knowledgeable about the solid copper bullets so I wouldnt know. I've only used barnes once and had a bad experience with there varmint grenades not shooting correctly so I've never tried using any barned bullet again

Just got the email that they started production on my barrel! Yay! Said 10-15 more days for a shipping update. Anyone have an approx rnd count when their barrel stabilized velocity? Planning on shooting around 100 before doing any load development.

Not sure what you mean by stabilized velocity but I have one of their 24” 224 Valkyrie barrels and so far it’s slow. With 75gr TMJ I’m getting 2860 FPS average while I also have a 20” Bartlein that’s getting the same. I have approximately 150 rds through the PBB Valkyrie barrel and I haven’t chronographed it since I got the last velocity numbers. I will post updated velocity when I get it back from H&M black nitride soon.

90 VLDs at 2500. 40 degrees. 0 ASL.

1.27 stability at 7 twist

i'd wager you have something else going on

8 twist is .974 for reference

I just mean at what round count did you see an increase in velocity, some barrels are around 70-80, some around 150, just wondering how many rds to plan on before really starting load developement

You’re in the middle of marginally stable, have your shot these at distance? how are they doing? I’ve never had anything that was marginally stable actually shoot well.
