I ask because I've been hearing for the past couple of years that the Corps went to a Premier scope for the 40s. Is this true? Ours had the S&B, and our DMR rifles had knight forces and Leupolds, never saw a Premier scope. Trying to decide how to scope my GAP M40a5.

If I remember correctly the PR went with the USMC's version of the M110 while the M40A5 retained the S&B. For your GAP M40A5 go with the S&B 3-12X50 PMII with MTC turrets.

I actually saw a USMC sniper platoon at the range over the week drawing weapons and all them had M40-A5s with Premier Reticles scopes on them.

Use whatever you like it's your money. For instance I'm pretty sure the 3-12 SB is 'correct' but a 5-25 costs about the same and the extra magnification will be appreciated at the range. Same goes for reticule choices. Plain Jane mildot is nice but there are many other options out there...

This is what I was seeing from two different units, our MK-12's had Leupold Mark 4 MRT's(2.5-8x36). The Bn who occasionally sent their sniper's to help us out had the following: M110 had PR 3-15's, the only M40 I saw had the S&B 3-12, and their SASR's had a S&B 3-12 on one and the other two had two different PR's, one had the 3-15 and the one that was never taken off the COP had the 5-25.
The Marine corps uses several different optic company's and it's basically up to the units Gunner as to which one they prefer to use. Right now there really isn't a set across the board standard. My last unit used the S&B almost exclusively on all their DMR's and bolt guns. But where I'm at now, I've seen the different optics floating around, and when I was in country I was seeing all the other units shit.

Yes the are using the Premier 3-15x50mm with the 22MRAD turret. I like the 14MRAD and the 27 DT MRAD turret. At this time they are using the 3-12x50mm S&B DT MTC on their Bolt Rifles.
I love my Premier scopes.

Thank you for the pics and information gents, I think Im going to go with the Premier, Ill be able to use the rest of my money that I put aside for the build for a can. I was going to toss on one of my Leupolds, at least with the Premier the build will be an actual representation of a possible combination that is used.

The original contract was the S&B scopes using the Premier reticle assembled by Premier. Things have changed along the way. Also S&B now has the contract for service of the scopes so there is no problem with where a company is based. Both scopes are in use with the Corps.

All of the above is incorrect! My cousin's best friend's, ucle's, neice's father's brother....says they are using Countersniper scopes. But since the mission's are so clandestine you will never see them!

yeah, Rob, that was bad, huh? My apologies. My intentions were not to mislead, I think you know that. I actually had that internal debate about whether I should have posted that or not. I thought deleting the post would have been worse than adding the disclaimer...I did, however, play the "jump to conclusions game..." I heard this info, then saw the photo of the PR on the M40, and thought, "eureka! It must be true!"
