Guys I have been eying a Tikka CTR 6.5 CM with I believe the 24” barrel. Comes with Mcmillan A5 and break for 1500 or with atlas bipod for 1700. Was told it has 100 rounds through and shoots 1/2 with 143’s. I need to confirm barrel length.
Primary use would be bench 100-300 yd and hopefully more than occasional 1000. Would eventually like to try a PRS matchup see if it’s something I’d be into.

So questions are.....
Should I get caught up in 20 over 24?
Is this a good deal?
Fits what I’ve described?
If the answer is no what would you suggest.

I have a MWS right now I am considering selling or trading. So this would be the replacement.

IMHO barrel length is a matter of the person involved.

In Vietnam, the S. Vietnamese were furnished with American Garands. They were way too much rifle for the smaller ARVN's to handle and shoot

In Vietnam, I had the M-14; 2" less barrel, somewhat smaller round, and not such a bad match for a 6 1/2ft American.

If I was planning on gunfighting indoors; I'd have a 16" or shorter AR.

Outdoors, the longer 24" & 28" barrels are not such a big issue, for me.

Thanks for all the help. It is actually an A1 but he sold the Chassis and put it in the Mcmillan.
picking it up tomorrow. Now to start an optic search. Anyone interested in a Les Baer trade for an optic? Lol
