Problem with my FN

I was having problems with round closing hard on my FN with their DBM system.

I figured out it was happening when the round was not loading with the base in the extractor. The extractor had to jump around the brass.

Is this a problem with my bolt or with my magazine system?

Re: Problem with my FN

Sounds like the mag is releasing the round too early. From your description, it sounds like the round is popping out of the mag, instead of riding up under the extractor, before being released by the magazine. Make up some dummy rounds, fieldstrip your bolt and cycle those dummies through to see exactly when the round gets released from the magazine. The extractor should have the rim, before the round is released from the mag.

I had the same problem with one of the SPR action I bought a while back. No matter how much time I spent trying to fix it it just wouldn't work right. I bought a CDI bottom metal and a couple AI mags and it fits and feeds flawless
hope this helps.

You don't need to get CDI. You do not need the trouble of dealing with a rifle that is clearly trash. Box it it and send it to me so you don't have to deal with it. Life will be better.

CDI is good to go

Re: Problem with my FN

Is it built from an FN action? or is this a factory FN SPR? Reason I ask - If it's a factory gun, call them and they will send you a call tag and they'll fix the issue at no charge.

I had a funny magazine issue (mine is internal - not dbm model) and they had it back to me in 4-5 weeks at no charge. Works perfect now.

Now, unless you REALLY want the CDI mag system(which I debated...a lot) and this is just a good reason

. At the time I opted for the warranty fix and saved my money. I still might do the CDI system this summer....

Re: Problem with my FN

I spent the money on 2 extra 10 round mags and spent the extra money on their mag system.

If I knew it was a bad system I would have got the FBI model and had the barrel chopped and then added the CDI.

I will probbly have them fix it.
