Looking at building a lightweight compact hunting rifle. I read up on both in a few threads. Looking at there web sites Proof only makes a 20 inch 6.5 barrel and Hardy makes a 18 inch 6.5 barrel. I want to keep it as short as possible due to running a suppressor. I would like to hear some feed back if you have used either and the pros vs cons. Thought about emailing Proof to see if they could do a 18 inch barrel anybody know if this can be done?

I think Proof will make whatever you want, within reason.

They just made me a Sendero Light, 30 cal, 18 inch with 1 in 7 twist........not exactly an off the shelf barrel.

Call up one of their dealers, I used stockysstocks.

Hardy's CF barrel is actually designed from the ground up as a carbon barrel. They've made a lot of barrels, and they actually have a pretty long pedigree that they inherited from another major well-reputed precision barrel maker on an international scale. They haven't just wrapped just any old barrel in any old carbon. It's high tech and well-researched in every regard. And it shows when you shoot them.

You'll be seeing a lot more of them in the coming months.
