Proverbial 2nd Amendment Grenade Toss

Keep the people dumb (public education), fat, and happy and you can do whatever you want to them. Welfare does exactly that.

I think back to my public ed teachers and Im glad I had them.

They had expectations of standards and they actually sparked life long desires that paid dividendes for me.

They are dead now but I wish I could thank them.

They are much different from what my kids get today and the kids went to the same grade school I went to.

In my day it was all about performance and effort.

Now all I hear teachers talk of is "New paradigm", "Thinking outside of the box", "Diverse learning ability", all a bunch of trite shit to tell me we are dumbing your kid down to accept loss of freedom.

If you pull the lever and do not meet the qualifications. Yes you are.
Your dancing around my statement.

Question: Am I accused of being guilty of a crime when I goto the polls to vote?
If you don't want to participate in voting then keep your ID in your pocket and your ass at home

All discretionary.

You have the choice to buy or not buy that product to pay or avoid the tax.

Uncle Sam reaches in my wallet every pay check and whether I like it or not he tax my money.

Why should someone not paying income taxes have the right to determine how my govt uses those takings?
Because there are other taxes than income and no taxation without representation.

Because they were born to poor parents, went to a shitty school with teachers who didn't give a shit, and no one taught them any better that they could do something with their lives.

Poverty is just one giant cycle.
Yup, government housing, government schools, government assistance.

Your solution is add more government. That is sure to "break the cycle* ?

If you were born before 1934 you had a government that was bound by the 2nd amendment and only starting to step outside it's boundaries (federal reserve act). If you were born after October 26, 2001 you are born into post constitutional America. If you were born in between those dates you did a piss pour job at keeping our republic alive and our government bound by the restraints in the constitution and bill of rights.

Interesting to me that during the present "crisis" its so imperative for schools to continue providing school lunch.

Why isnt the WIC/SNAP money providing lunch?

People choose to be poor. The overwhelming majority of millionaires in this country are self made. Poverty is easy when you have someone who pays your bills for you, why bother to achieve more. Government keeps people in poverty.

Because of the brainwashing from the government schools system.

Heads up they’re infiltrating all public schools and coming to a town near you
That has been going on since the cold war. If you haven't seen them go to YouTube and look up Yuri Besmanov. There are a couple of interviews he did back in the seventies or eighties where he details the Soviet subversion into the school system to train the little Communist that we have to day.

Do you believe that the Constitution still protects the 2nd Amendment as it is alive and well or has our country allowed it to be eroded to the point that it has become a privilege and not a right.

Please indicate still a right or has become a privilege and why you have come to your conclusion.

A God-given right never goes away. It becomes problematic when a people or government body does not acknowledge that right.

Yes. But there’s also a massive amount of gov handout in the county and country area
I know, but doesn't invalidate my statement about poverty. People living under the poverty level has been basically frozen since the Advent of the Great Society.

But who are you, or the poll workers to convict me of this, without charges, then trial me, and find me of being guilty of not meeting these qualifications, without ever going to court?

Am I not allowed, as a free man to travel freely without someone demanding to see my papers?
You must register to vote. Verification of the vote is constitutional.
Yes you are free to travel without the government molesting you. Just don't drive a vehicle on the states roads. (Fed or state).

Interesting to me that during the present "crisis" its so imperative for schools to continue providing school lunch.

Why isnt the WIC/SNAP money providing lunch?
Yeah that's insane... zero parental responsibility. Because I'm so old at the age of 36... back in my day..... I grew up paying for school lunch, or parents sending me to school with food, or on lucky days, mom would bring me something during lunch time.

My dad was the sole provider and a small business owner until the great state of California made the automotive repair business unprofitable with fees, taxes, regulations, etc. For a while, my dad was the "working poor" which I had no idea at the time. Eventually lost the business, foreclosed on house, had to move, etc etc. Still not a single dime of government assistance.

Being poor is a mindset. And our favorite unwitting bigot, Greenday, is showing his colors again with his bigotry of low expectations for those people that just aren't smart enough to help themselves, so they need more government to keep them under the thumb of all the government that has failed them.

I feel sorry for him and people like him who feel they have been slighted in life and feel they are perpetually a victim of someone else's doing.

Someone else thought that way too. He ended up being in charge of the country called Germany back in the day.

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

I shouldn’t have to give anyone any of my personal information to vote.

Key word is "unreasonable" asking that you show you meet the requirements to vote is "reasonable".

And if you think that is unreasonable its easy enough to avoid by not voting.

Now compare that to my 2A rights....forced to get a license and must show same to buy a firearm or ammo. Also must have license on person anytime I have my firearm in my possession.

and that for a right that "shall not be infringed"......

I don’t have to prove anything to anyone.

With all of the surveillance liberty they have raped from us in the false name of security should be able to prove I am in the correct jurisdiction

The burden of proof is on my accuser.

This isn’t the USSR
Agreed until you throw millions of illegal invaders into the fray. Should they be allowed to decide how you live YOUR life in YOUR country?

The whole fucking thing, America, needs reset and clarified. We need a new government and the Constitution needs to be fixed. The 2A needs to say "the right of all people to bear arms shall not be infringed. Any laws enacted that infringe on this right carry the death penalty for the drafters and enablers of such legislation."

VooDoo
The Constitution was written so an 18th century farmer could understand it. If someone claims to not understand it it's usually because they want to change the meaning. Kind of like Greenday and his bullshit gaslighting response #19

I know. It’s bull crap.

All of my point goes to one of my favorite lines a man can’t have self government without self discipline, I’f a man followed Gods law and didn’t lie then we wouldn’t have to “register” ourselves to do anything

"Trust but verify...."

Source: No one but lunatics, criminals, and terrorists fear the government coming after them. Literally no one cares about taking all those guns stored up in his shed. The government has a billion other more important things to do. Also, WAY more people are killed daily by idiots using guns than the government killing off its citizens. If you went door to door and polled people, asking which is more likely, "Getting shot by someone random or the government coming for you", the extreme majority is going to pick the former.

This man says you lie....

If not for our Constitution we would be him.

Anything that weakens our Constitution brings us closer to being him.

I assume all of us on SH believe in the 2nd Amendment, or the Bill of Rights.
But when states or city laws can supersede Federal law, there's the disconnect. I don't know of any state firearms restrictions in WY. The infringement on the 1st scares me equally as bad. I can call a twink a faggot here, if in seattle, I'd probably be in lockup with hate crime charges.
The Bill of Rights is The Bill of Rights, it should have never been open to individual states interpretation.

Agreed. My proposal is that we make it so modern politicians can understand it and then chop their heads off when they exploit non existent ambiguities. There seems to be room for argument in the current Constitution. We need to make the meaning clear and punish anyone who seeks to alter it's meaning to deprive US of Rights.

There needs to be some form of retribution for politicians who draft legislation that is un constitutional. Fuck striking down an illegal law. Strike down the drafters and supporters of that legislation and the attempts on our freedoms will stop.

We could actually do it a lot simpler by just taking a page from the Democrat Communist playbook.

You'll notice every time the Republicans or conservatives pass a law or try to do something, it's instantly blocked by some political appointee "judge" and they have to fight a long court case before it can be put into practice.

I'd say let's do the same to them. EVERY time a law is passed, it cannot go into effect till everybody has a chance to fight it out in court over the constitutionality of the law. (AND NONE of this "we'll just fix and rewrite the law for you, such as Roberts and Obamacare, if it's unconstitutional in any part, the whole thing gets tossed and you have to start over and try to get it right the next time).

That right there would put a big dent in the laws that restrict freedom.
Make the government have to prove that their laws are constitutional rather than citizens having to prove they are not on their own dime.

So Im guessing that your belief is that non citizens in this country that buy a few gallons of gas than have the right to vote?
There are non-citizens who pay income taxes in this country. Do you think they should vote?

What's the relevance of that question? Cause the people constantly voting against our 2A rights sure don't care if it's in the Constitution.
Gary Willis, and Duncan Lemp respectfully disagree.

It's one of those cases where too many jerks have ruined it for everyone. People are sick of dumbasses misusing guns and killing innocent people far too often. Every day innocent people get killed. So as a result, more and more, the right to bear arms is becoming a privilege in this country. The average person isn't worried about the government becoming tyrannical and coming for them. They are more worried about being shot by some gang member or some person with a short temper.
the average person in CA is now standing in lines trying to buy ammo for grandpa's gun and realize they aren't allowed to anymore, and they are trying to buy guns and can't. The average person, is, well average, and they are too short sighted to see what they created.

How many people are killed by cops per day vs murdered by anyone else?
How many of those police go un punished simply because they claim they felt in fear of their life after killing someone who is not armed? If a normal person feels in fear of their life and shoot someone else they usually go to prison.

Dude, I totally support and would defend till the death you having liberal views.

But this question is ridiculous. If you make money in America and are taxed for it by America that’s one thing. But non-citizens getting to vote because they’re taxed by America, for making money while here... Nope.

If I visit Topeka KS and by a pack of smokes, should I be allowed to vote there because I paid taxes there?

The libs wont be happy until the world is able to participate in our elections.

Its too close as things are now.

Those pesky Americans wont perform as they would like.

If they can increase the vote pool by enough people to take away the vote of an American they they can end these close elections.

Just promise the world all the treasure from the American treasury as long as you vote CommieGlobalistDemocrat.

Wait wasnt team liberal buying up all the firepower because Trump is a dictator going to strip everyones civil rights?

Some of you understood the reason for 2A.

and I think the answer to your question is there are more murders than police shootings, whats your point?

During BLMs hey day, that was not the propaganda.

Yes. In their own countries.

Here? Fuck no!

Ive paid VAT in Britain should I get an absentee ballot?

Cars must be inspected, registered, you have to take a test in order to be licensed to drive, police constantly make sure you don't drive like an idiot and there's punishments if you do.

Alcohol is limited to only those 21 or older. Acting irresponsible in public while drunk is against the law. Bars are held responsible if you drink too much.

Most states ban handheld phones while driving. They regulate it because people suck at talking/texting while driving.

What's your problem? I didn't say we should treat it like a privilege. I'm saying why this country is changing it to a privilege. Get off your high horse.

Yet none of those are Constitutional Rights.

You can’t change a right to a privilege without a constitutional amendment.

This statement is mostly false.

There are very, very, very few “normal people” in prison who can articulate they feared great bodily harm or death.

That depends on the state. Until recently in the state of Iowa even defending yourself in a fist fight could and you in prison for defending yourself.

There is no need for discussion on this subject as to what is or isn't.

As currently practiced in this country by the courts, politicians and consented to by people, even lots here on this forum, the Second Amendment is a "Second Class right" and is for all intents and practice a privilege.

You can't even get people on this site to agree that it's right up there with the First Amendment as a natural God given right that cannot be taken away.

What I wish it was and how it is are definitely two different things. The rule of law and how it is practiced in our country has changed.

In 1850 AD, Frederic Bastiat (a Frenchman no less) foretold how we would screw up the amazing system that our forefathers came up with. The book is called The Law. It’s a short read but as you read it you will be dismayed to see the relevance to our time. Don’t pass up the Forward/Preface either. 73 pages.

I would agree with the reset and clarification from the beginning, but I fear the reset will come from the Socialist side of the equation, thus further eroding the right.

"It is not true that the mission of the law is to regulate our consciences, our ideas, our will, our education, our sentiments, our sentiments, our exchanges, our gifts, our enjoyments. Its mission is to prevent the rights of one from interfering with those of another, in any one of these things. Law, because it has force for its necessary sanction, can only have the domain of force, which is justice.
More from Bastiat's The Law:

Socialism, like the old policy from which it emanates, confounds Government and society. And so, every time we object to a thing being done by Government, it concludes that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of education by the State — then we are against education altogether. We object to a State religion — then we would have no religion at all. We object to an equality which is brought about by the State then we are against equality, etc., etc. They might as well accuse us of wishing men not to eat, because we object to the cultivation of corn by the State.

How is it that the strange idea of making the law produce what it does not contain — prosperity, in a positive sense, wealth, science, religion — should ever have gained ground in the political world? The modern politicians, particularly those of the Socialist school, found their different theories upon one common hypothesis; and surely a more strange, a more presumptuous notion, could never have entered a human brain.

They divide mankind into two parts. Men in general, except one, form the first; the politician himself forms the second, which is by far the most important.
Bastiat concludes his penetrating analysis with this:

The social organs are constituted so as to enable them to develop harmoniously in the grand air of liberty. Away, then, with quacks and organizers! Away with their rings, and their chains, and their hooks, and their pincers! Away with their artificial methods! Away with their social laboratories, their governmental whims, their centralization, their tariffs, their universities, their State religions, their inflationary or monopolizing banks, their limitations, their restrictions, their moralizations, and their equalization by taxation! And now, after having vainly inflicted upon the social body so many systems, let them end where they ought to have begun — reject all systems, and try of liberty — liberty, which is an act of faith in God and in His work. "
