I’m running a Mission Critical Designs P.R.S.T and have always just dealt with the minor slop between the center column and the ball head base. No matter how tight everything was placed, there was some minor play.

So with one nut and 5 washers, I was able to take the slop out. Figured I’d share some pics for others who may have the same issue.

This may have been my OCD acting up, but I want as little play as possible in my setup. I suck enough and don’t need any extra help with missing the targets lol.

    Update:

Ok so said fuck it and removed the center column completely and replaced it with an eye bolt. This allows for me to just pop a carabiner on there and snap the pack’s handle quickly, instead of that little low-pro hook. I didn’t take many pictures when doing it but if anyone is interested, I’ll go take it apart and send ya pictures.

Man I have been running mine with several attachments for years and never had that problem.
I’ve been running it for a few years now but really only noticed it recently. By minor I mean like super minor and was probably just my OCD acting up lol. I like to tinker so I said fuck it and made some alterations. Great tripod even with the minor slop and never had a problem reaching out with it at distance. Would still buy it again if I had to do things over.

I may ditch the head and go with a leveling base, as I don’t do any high angle work (nor have the ability), and just keep playing around with different setups for it.

Also I think the eyebolt allows for a much faster and much more secure way to hang a heavy pack from the underside.
