Gunsmithing PT&G Uni Throating Reamer

I had my Remington 700 cut with a 308 match reamer but needed a little more throat to accomodate the range of bullets I planned to use. By a little bit more I mean increasing the depth by 0.010. Purchased the subject throating reamer, followed the easy instructions, and successfully increased the depth the desired amount. A trip to the range confirmed no degredation in accuracy. The gun still shoots in the .4s for 10 shot groups. I highly recommend the tool...

Good to know, I'm going to be reaming a barrel soon with a 95 Palma with only .050" freebore. Dave suggested this exact product if I change my mind down the road and want more.

I take it the process involves a lathe? ..How does it work?

No lathe required. A T-handle attaches to the reamer so you can turn it by hand. I was sceptical at first but after seeing the results I'm a believer...

I was leary too of cutting inside my new custom barrel. The uni throater works great and is easy to use. If done right it won't hurt your accuracy either.

I had a custom reamer made by PT&G that is similar in many respects to the 95 Palma reamer. Since I am using up the 175 grain Matchking I needed just a little more throat, as the Palma reamer is set up for the 155 grain bullets. The extra throat allows 100% load density using an extended drop tube with a 0.15 jump to the lands...
