I am attempting to locate a mount that I saw at Sniperweek. It was used to secure a AN/PVS-14 to the ocular bell of a day scope. When not needed a latch could be pressed to swing the PVS-14 out of the way. The PVS-14 could be dropped back into place in a second if needed.

I can't for the life of me remember who the vendor was who had it on display and a google search has not turned up anything.

I an NOT posting this to debate the limitations of mounting a PVS-14 to the back of a day optic. I am well aware of the issues. At this time it's not up to me to dictate what device will be used. It's just a matter of making it work, and this piece of hardware will do what I need.

Thanks in advance.

Re: PVS-14 mount help

Something like this?

http://www.scottcountry.co.uk/products_detail.asp?productID=3375

Ignore the manky monocular it's fitted to, these guys sell the HDSA (Hinged Days Scope Adapter) separately for 150 pounds sterling...expensive but there you go.

The guys at that Scott Country place are damned helpful and they export this sort of adapter stuff without issue - at least the UK has half a clue about application of ITAR...

Re: PVS-14 mount help

the real deal issued one is the monoloc.they run about 400$ retail.yup its a lot of loot ,but it is the patented real deal.they have popped up here used once and a while for 200/300. they also require different rubber bushings for each optic. i might have a spare, but will have to look. pm me if this is what your looking for

There it is.I have the solid mount that works really good only problem is having to move to move your scope forward for eye relief. So i use the ARMS quick release then reconfirm zero after move.

Lone Wolf,is this the one you were looking for?

Bad eye relief is the main limitation. The device was just not intended to work that way with a magnified optic. They work fine with a 1x dot sight.

There is a reason the PVS-22 is the recommended device even though it's quite a bit more expensive.

Re: PVS-14 mount help

The way i usually mount mine on my AR is to use the 3X lens with Larue mount with Eotech 552 and IR laser zeroed to 100 yrds. It is a night time coyote sleeping pill. On the bolt gun it is just more work to remove and redue zero to maintain eye relief. I am sure Vic could find it for you. He owns ( www.TNVC.com ) He is here on the and spends time on AR15.com . He good to go with great customer service.

I have been wearing Vic out here recently. I think he may be real happy with me soon though.

I think I figured out who the Vendor was who had it on display. I need to get ahold of him because when I spoke with him he offered to send it to me to demo it. I just lost his card and finally found a pic I took of his table showing his card. I swear I suck with names.

Re: PVS-14 mount help

VM- From what I have heard is the PVS14 is not really that good with a high calber weapon. I highest you would want to go is a .223 This is because the during recoil the Photocathode would slam into your Microchannel plate. With this effect, your $4k PVS14 is now worth nothing. If you have heard of the "HALO" effect, this refers to both the Microchannel plate & Photocathode. Both the Microchannel plate & Photocathode.
sit so close to each other that they would "slam" into each other during firing. On my PVS14, I have a "HALO" effect of .94. This is optimum for use on a AR15. The higher the "HALO" #, the closer the Microchannel plate & Photocathode sit together. I still see a little "bloom" when I look at a street light, but its not a big deal.

This is what explained to me. If someone has a different opinion, Im all ears. Obviously, this is what this forum is about right? Helping others out
