Hey fellas,

I've got an opportunity to pick up a PWS MK2 series rifle in a trade, and was wondering if anyone has info on whether or not you can rebarrel the gun the same as a DI AR10? I'm guessing no because of the funky gas block mounting nut they have, but I can't find anything on either factory replacement barrels or anything aftermarket.

The gun in question is a 16" .308 and I'd really like to switch it to a 6.5 creed. I know they make an 18" 6.5 version of the same gun, but I'd rather not buy a 1200 dollar upper if I can just switch barrels.

Also while we're at it, has anyone had time behind one of these guns, and have anything to say accuracy wise? Are they a viable 1 minute gun?

Thanks in advance.

I have the MK216 and love it. I run a 1-6x razor on it and it routinely shoots right at and sub moa with 168 FGMM, If I do my job. I have never shot it with a higher magnified scope so I would say that sub moa is reasonable. PWS uses Wilson barrel blanks in their MK2 line up to include their 6.5 creedmoor. I have shot their 18” 6.5 and it loved the 143 eld’s my buddy had for it.
I have yet to see an after market barrel that you can slap into a PWS due to the gas block/piston housing. The barrel has external threads to accept this. I live local to PWS and I know their CS is top notch. I would recommend reaching out to them to see what it would cost to have them swap the barrel. The other advantage to that is that they will make sure it is timed and running correctly for the 6.5 round. Hell they would probably even warranty it for you.
either way I wouldn’t hesitate at all getting the MK216... great rifle!

Yeah, that’s what I was afraid of... It’s good to hear good experience with accuracy though. A 16” truck gun would be cool but I’m not sure if I can deal with 12 mils of drop and 2.6 mils of 10mph wind at a grand

I’ll try and get ahold of PWS today and see what they have to say.

Like stated above, I would contact PWS and see if they will just change out the barrel for you. I have had great experiences with PWS when talking to them. They were not CS issues. I was trying to do a custom build and wanted to use some of their parts and they were very helpful and spoke to me for a while as we discussed the build and possible issues I would run into. I have a couple uppers and rifles by them and they are awesome. I unfortunately do not have any experience with their large frame ARs.

Good luck and hope they will help you out. Let us know what they say.

So I got ahold of PWS this afternoon, and they said that they aren't selling individual 6.5 barrels by themselves.
Buuuut, if you already own one of their guns you can fill out a warranty ticket, and send your upper in to be re barreled for 350 bucks. I think that's what I'm gonna end up doing. The guys on the phone were really helpful in walking me through everything today, I can see why people say good things.

Also got the gun in my hands for the first time today, and it's a pretty quality piece. I'm impressed with the fire controls despite being stock. Hopefully I'll be impressed when rounds go downrange tomorrow.
