Hey everyone fairly new to this but know i can get some good answers, im getting a remington 700 sps-v with a 26 in barrel after having a gun smith work over the action and bolt face the next thing is the stock i am going to get a mcmillian a-5 stock probably the light one with a saddle check peice, spacer system, rail, aluminum pillars , im going to have a wider channel for the barrel as i plan to put on a thicker diameter barrle down the road, bottom metal is undecided im looking to make this capable of shooting within in its limits at 1,000 yds but more likely much shorter distances yes i know handloading is essiantial and i already have a background as I load for my pistols. Just looking for some input and clarification in the bedding/ pillar area with regards to the stock all within reasonable prices
thanks

Re: question about stock options

when you order tell them:

"inlet for pillars, and include them, but ill install them"

youll get the pillars sent along in the box in a little bag, be sure not to throw them away! theyre going to need filed down to the right height, but this way youll get a perfect fit between the action and the bottom metal.

also follow wnroscoe's bedding procedure, its easily searchable and probably the easiest routine with great results.
