Gunsmithing Question on 10/22- 77-22

Re: Question on 10/22- 77-22

Nope. 77/22s now have their barrels threaded to the receiver. its a step-up in quality from ruger, and I like it. 10/22's are slip in.

Its ironic as hell though. Ruger 77/22 goes threaded, CZ 455 (replacement 452) goes unthreaded with set-screws to hold it in place.

Ruger goes up in quality, CZ goes down. Wacky year...

Re: Question on 10/22- 77-22

Well, sort of.
Any 77/22 before this year has a similar arrangement to the 10/22, but not the same.
A non threaded 77/22 barrel can be used on a 10/22 with a spacer since the tenon is longer on a 77/22, and a woodruff ket to handle v-block spacing.
Using a 10/22 barrel on a 77/22 involves setting forward the shoulder and cutting the groove for the LH extractor .
I suspect CZ was trying to capitalize on the popularity of barrel swaps when they changed their mounting system. Probably cheaper, too.

Re: Question on 10/22- 77-22

I was not aware of them threading the 77/22's. but CPC has been doing that to both the 10/22 and the 77/22 for years. although you can get an adaptor ring from rimfire specalties or customs i dont remember which that will allow the use of a 77/22 barrel on the 10/22...the also you can use a 96/22 barrel on the 10/22.
