Guys,

I purchased one of the little Sinclair chamber length gauges for 308 and measured the length of the chamber to be 2.041 - 2.042. I know the goal is to keep the cases as consistent as possible. With that said what safety margin should I use for how long I can let the case grow before having to trim down again?

Since it is 2.041 I was thinking anything over 2.025 should be trimmed back down to 2.015?

Thoughts?

Thanks

Phil

Re: Quick case length question...

The instructions that came with my Sinclair chamber Length Gauge says trim back .024, where that number comes from I don't know, but on my 308 the chamber measured 2.036, I set up my trimmer to 2.015, my 260Rem measured 2.040, I trim to 2.030, IMHO .010 back is safe.

Re: Quick case length question...

Thanks.

Yes, I did read that in the instructions but see so much different data from others on different forums. My thinking is that 0.024 was a safe number for all chambers. I want to customize it to my chamber though and wondered if there was a safety margin others used as a default? Or is the 0.024 it?

Do you have any data to back up the 0.010 as being safe? Just trying to understand a bit better is all. Not questioning what you are doing is wrong.

Thanks

Phil
