Rainier has a 26" Ultramatch .224 Valkyrie barrel with a 1 in 7.5 twist rate, does anyone have experience with this barrel? I'm probably going to play around with 80gr stuff mostly, do you think I really NEED a 1 in 7 or 1 in 6.5?

Jake

i have that in 24" and def sub-moa with hornady factory eldm 88's. they told me their longer (ie higher fps) barrels worked great in a 7.5 twist. and they have a 90 day refund policy if it doesn't.

rainier's a pretty good shop, very attentive and helped me out when i had a gas prob with this gun. and when i was trying to figure out which gas block would fit, the guy ran in the back, assembled one and let me know it would def fit, vs some other shops that just said it 'should' fit. i really respect that.

Buy it. It will shoot. I have the 26" 7.5T and it shot lights out for 2500+ rounds. I have plenty of load data for 90 SMK, 88 ELDMs, 80 Berger's, 80 SMKs, 75 ELD, 75 BTHP, 73 ELDM and 69 SMKs if you need starting points.

Here is what mine produced with 88 ELD handloads shot at 1050yds:

Here are some 100yd groups from that load:

And here is rifle next to my 26" bolt 6.5CM:
