First I am not bitiching about the RCBS chargemaster. I am how ever having a problem with it. When I push the number "1" it comes up as a "2" the "4" comes up as a "5" the "7" comes up as "8" and the "." comes up as "0" the key pad is off one postion to the right. It is only the "1,4,7,." the other rows are as they should be. Has anybody every seen or heard of this? I tryed to call RCBS but they are off untill Monday, so I am at a dead end till then. Is there a way to reset the system or to reboot?

Ahhhhh, it's the old and dreaded 'keyboard pad failure' from '07 rearing its ugly head again.

Thought they had it sorted out a couple of years back. Is this a new or older unit?

Call RCBS, get a return autorization number and send it back to them after they give you the OK.

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

I just got a chargemaster, and mine dosnt do that.... though I have not checked for that speficially. when I enter a grain amount it charges correctly.

Thanks for the warning

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

There were a number of posts with the same problem a while back. RCBS will tell you to send the whole unit back. At least you got 2 years out of it. Mine lasted 10 weeks before it had to go back.

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

Yup, same thing happened to me, I just haven't been able to send mine in yet. They'll have you send a check for $40 or $45 to cover the repairs and or shipping, if I remember correctly. Its a real pain in the ass when the charge you want is say 42.6 you have to punch in 39 gr. and then trickle up to the desired charge.

HAHA... That is what I am doing. My powder charge is 42.8 and I am having to set the chargemaster at 39 and trickel up to 42.8. IT SUCKS I end up going over every time.

i just got a chargemaster.......mine you can set charge to 39 trickle to 42.8 then push the mem key this will memorize the 42.8 charge and you can let the unit do it all by hitting the disp key.

mine has two problems first was static. i could not get it to calibrate. then i noticed when i put the powder pan near the scale the weight would change.......a wipe with a dryer sheet solved that.

second it starts out dispensing then slows down then trickles the way it should. then out of the blue it gets to the trickle part and it takes off fast and drops about 3 gn over. i have to turn it off for a little then it works fine. it only happen twice so far.

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

ROCKETON- That worked! Thanks, I am able to use the chargemaster for now. I am still going to send it in next week but I can reload till then. Still suck 4 day weekend gone to wast, did not get any trigger time in yet. Maybe tonight.

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

reminds me of the time I thought I was going to get fired from my first job right out of the Army. I popped all the keys off a co-workers keyboard and then rearranged them.

He went moon-bat ape-shit and was heading to HR when I gave him my new key board in exchange. Fuck him, it was funny.

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

I'm on my fourth Chargemaster, but RCBS has stood behind every one of their units. My last failure was the middle set of buttons stopped working. I couldn't enter a 2, 5 or 8 digit in the sequence. Some sort of keypad failure, I suppose. However, RCBS replaced it, and the new one is working OK until last week when the auto dispense feature became random. Will have to telephone RCBS and inquire if this can be fixed somehow...

Re: RCBS chargemaster problem

Even with the new one they sent me their is a problem. When i hit the dispense button it stop unless I hold it in for a second or 2 then starts very slowly and then dispenses properly. Otherwise works fine. I don't know if I should send this one back or not. Any suggestions?
