I bought this bugger in 2006. It sat on a shelf for 3 years while was overseas. Started using it off/on about 3 years ago for customer guns. Low mileage is what I'm getting at.

By and large good to go.

Then 4 months ago it started acting up. It'll throw a charge to within 3-4 grains of the tgt weight. Then it just stops. Doesn't beep doesn't do anything.

It'll trickle in the manual mode, but I can't get it to work as its supposed to.

    Anyone else experience this?

My Lyman runs like a raped ape and its even older!

    Thanks.

    C.

Does it have a florescent light near by or is there some other electronics on the same circuit (plasma TV)?

I have heard of others having problems. It was usually narrowed down to surroundings.

Hell I didn't think that dipping the case in a barrel of powder and skimming the excess off the top and calling it good required a scale....

Does it act like it is done and counts that charge as a completed or can you manually trickle it to the charge weight and then it says it's done and counts the charge?

dad's will run the warm up calibrate and function fine but if you put the plate on and zero it, it will read 2grains over what it is supposed to weigh so all the charges come out 2 grain short WTF........ I told him to box it up and send it back.

    Re: rcbs chargemaster problem

Mine is flashing a code at me when I use it. seems to throw the correct charge when I weigh it manually, but the scale is "speaking" to me.

    Re: rcbs chargemaster problem

When I bought my Chargemaster, I had the same experience as Chad. Called rcbs and was told to send it back on their dime. The associate said that she would personally check calibration on the replacement. New one seems to work fine but haven't put it to test yet.

    Re: rcbs chargemaster problem

I've always been very anal about weighing charges but got tired of hand weighing each one.

I've only loaded 50 rounds with the Chargemaster so far and have noticed that it will drop 1 to 3 granules(saw 4 drop once)of stick powder while the trickler hits my charge # and beeps. Only a few granules and I may not be a good enough shooter to notice.

I'll get out the sand bags and see how the loads group at distance tomorrow.

    Re: rcbs chargemaster problem

I purchased 2 at the same time, one for me and one for FIL. Anyway mine is SLOOOWWW and did the speed up thing on youtube to see if it would do any better. Still did what your describing. Someone suggested trying a McD's straw and that has worked like a champ. Seemed like the powder would build up and either take forever to drop or when it did drop would do to much. The Mcd's straw seemed to help that. If you watch it real close when it stops it does a light light trickle. I had to put a sharpie line on mine to see that it was even moving.
