I do not have the money for a Prometheus so I need to figure out which one to get. Has anyone had experience with both? If so, what was your impressions of them? Please share your opinions/experience with both models. I know the Lyman DPS has the "auto-reset" function which allows you to key in the charge weight once and it will automatically throw the charge once the pan is placed on the scale. I like this function a lot and am wondering if the RCBS has the same?

I'm leaning towards the RCBS but the Lyman is a little less expensive IIRC. Which company has better customer service?

First, I don't have experience with the Lyman. I do have experience with the chargemaster and it does have the same feature you mentioned, where you set the charge and it dumps the powder in the pan every time you put it down until you stop it (or run out of powder). The chargemaster is adjustable whereby you can speed it up for a specific charge, if you are loading a lot of one load. I don't know how the customer service could be any better than RCBS' I had a problem with my first chargemaster, within the first year, and they replaced it immediately, without question. Always available for questions or advice. Most of my stuff is green. Just my 2 cents....

Hard to beat the chargemaster, all the way around. I use a separate power supply that allows me to load at the range without electricity, while also providing "better" overall current than the factory unregulated wall wart does. They also can be used as a line conditioner, to smooth out incoming voltage from poor quality service and surges from appliances coming on...and lightning.
I build them myself.

Have both now, give me the chargemaster anyday. The DPS loaded alot of rounds for me and did fine, but the chargemaster is faster and seems to hold the zero better/longer

I have both units and had a little trouble out of both. Lyman replaced control panel at no cost and RCBS repaired their unit at no cost. Both companies are great to work with. Lyman was quickest to make repairs with everything being as it is. I use my units to get me close and finish load on a beam scale. If you go electronic always have a backup. I think Chargemaster has a good edge over DPS. RCBS is offering rebate also.

I went through this line of questioning back when I was looking for one of these about 2 years ago. There are a couple of online reviews and Youtube vids that show them side by side. Personally I was trying to figure out if the RCBS was worth the extra $. I bought it and yes, its worth it (though it took a freebie straw from McD's to get it to throw Varget)

You needed an extra straw? I'll be throwing a lot of Varget, H1000, and other long grain powders.

yeah, sounds stupid, but look up the straw fix. Before the fix I would actually have it throw a charge at a lower weight and trickle up, now with the fix it throws long grained powder almost 100% dead on. The Lyman I believe has the same issue...
