Ok, so I'm wondering what the difference in size is of the tikka .223 action when compared to the .308 action.

Why I want to know is if I can shoot .308 out of my .223 action if I do a barrel and bolt change.

Also, if the answer above is no, then my next questions is: would I be able to shoot .223 out of a .308 action if I do a barrel bolt change?

If yes, would a standard .223 bolt be able to be used or would it have to be longer than normal?

Thanks in advance. Guess that wasn't really a quick question after all.

Re: Real quick tikka action dimension question

Actions are all the same, the bolt stop may need to be switched out to the proper length.

But even that may only be needed for the long (30-06 length) cartridges.

Re: Real quick tikka action dimension question

If you have a .308 and rebarrel to .223, you will not need to swap out the bolt stop as there will already be sufficient clearance for the bolt to feel the cartridges correctly.

As you asked, yes, all T3 actions are the same size, all that differs between them is the barrel chambering and bolt face.

Brownells, it would probably be more cost effective to just buy another rifle, though.

I think, by the time you buy all the parts, a complete bolt will be $300-350.
