any problem with rebarreling this (first one) action into a heavy?

Ive narrowed it down to these 2 rifles. Minor differences and budget is in effect. XCR is prefferable considering the protective coating. ONE DAY I will be rebarreling either one with less of a twist for a .300 RUM (factory is 1-10) into a 1-12-14 in 5R. Keep that in mind with this next question.

1. Will there be a match up for the action of an XCR (standard barrel mate) to the threaded end of a heavy barrel? Im afraid if I get the XCR and go heavy later on that I will be running into machining issues to match up...or is this to be expected with any barrel regardless?

2. Hogue website http://www.hoguestore.com/index.php?main...+BDL+heavy+full some say heavy and others say heavy/varmint. Why would the stock matter if you shoot varmint of elk cartridges?

You may say go ahead and get the Sendero now, but the XCR has the coating, and I may end up thinking that I dont need a heavy.I've never owned a heavy bbl before and only shot one in a .308 before.

Before I make final preparations, the only deal breaker I can think of for me not to get this rifle is if there were a .300 RUM in an AR platform. Its my understanding that Bushmaster bought the only company to produce (many) multiple caliber rifle MCR COBB in '06 only to not produce any of them. Yeah not as accurate as a 700, but im familiar with the AR already, dont need to buy bases, and its tacticool as shit. Who else could say they could hunt a freakin polar bear rex with an AR platform?

Re: Rebarrel & New Stock Question

Instead of the XCR for $1100 or the Sendero get a SPS Tactical for $600 (or so)a Bell & Carlson Light Tactical stock for $200 (or so). You can use the difference to have a nice corrosion resistant paint job put on it, a Timney trigger or toward optics.

The Trinyte finish should be a non-issue if you are going to rebarrel. You won't have it on the new barrel anyway. If you are going to do any custom work to the rifle you are throwing money away on the finish.

Re: Rebarrel & New Stock Question

A tactical stock would be nice, but for now, it will be just a hunter. Until I find exactly what I've been wanting; it aint happening. Ill settle on the gun because they don't make what I want. This is about as perfect as it gets, but I cant find anything on turning a .300 WM into a RUM. http://www.remington.com/products/firear..._long_range.asp
Otherwise that would be daddy's girl.

Damnit! Its been eating me alive that some of their premier http://www.remingtonle.com/rifles/rifles.htm
rifles dont even come in their own caliber that they are promoting.

I have 2 ideas behind this. A .300RUM is faster; the critter suffers less for a miscalculated range and I suffer less tracking the thing. Everyone offers their own cartridge for their own guns. You wont find anything RUM on Winchester, Ruger, Browning, H&H...anybody. They make the cartridge I want, I'd better get the gun from them too. Not to mention but I am anyways that a stainless 700 is the dream gun Ive always wanted. Its my prom queen, and I will have my way. That expensive Bitch!

Re: Rebarrel & New Stock Question

Nevermind that last post; IF I go with a .300 Win Mag, is it possible to just drill out the chamber to accept a RUM cartridge? I did read from Chuck Hawks that the RUM has the same rim but the case is blown out to larger diameter. This seems quite feesible, but logic and actuallity are not always the same.
