USO also makes a nice 1-8x scope and a 1.8-10x also. The VCOG looks good too, so does the EoTech VUDU (and it won't have the same problem the reflex sights did, and besides, they handled that whole fiasco like a champ!). Those 3 would probably be the ones I'd think you could score for around $1k, give or take some. Some good deals can be had on here too and quality scope mfg.'s generally honor their warranty even if it changes hands. I've bought some on here and also a few ACOG's on Ebay that way; only one went back for very minor problems and came back like new same week.
I have a USO 1-8x w/full illum. blue Christmas tree reticle w/ dot, mil/mil, FFP, etc. The blue is actually kind of nice and grew on me. On 1-2x, it works a lot like a dot sight with a ring, and on higher magnification the full reticle becomes visible. It's pretty slick. You can PM me if interested. I like it but the SBR it's on could use something a little smaller I feel (so I may even be open to partial trades).
I'd hold out and be patient for sales if you're gonna go new. Because when sales do come up, they're usually worth waiting for. Or look for used ones here and on Ebay. Patience is important there too though. Good luck!
