I've read about people having extraction issues. Mine is the type where it either pulls the case out but leaves it on the mag or won't pull it out at all on the first try (but will if tried again). The bolt doesn't have any trouble closing. Is this something that would be solved by replacing the extractor? I did scrub the chamber out really well the last time I cleaned it, but haven't fired it since the cleaning. I looked at the extractor, but can't see anything definitively worn. Can anyone chime in with advice? Thanks.

ps My rifle is a 308 if it matters

Is it a pinned/peened extractor or not. If "not" pinned/peened you can remove it and snap a new one in for a few buck, if pinned/peened you will need to by a little tool, not expensive.
I have had good luck kinda re-working (bending) a pinned extractor with an awl or dental pick type of tool.
Also try looking at the ejector making sure it isn't sticking
