GettySuffolk County police said a woman, using a grill similar to the one above, tried to heat the family's Brentwood home after running out of heating oil. A Long Island mom was charged with reckless endangerment Wednesday after lighting a BBQ grill inside her home, subjecting her family to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Suffolk County police said Marie Claudia-Blaise, 43, was using the grill to heat the family's Brentwood home after running out of heating oil.
Cops went to the house around 4 a.m. after a man called 911 to report a woman had passed out.
Officers quickly determined the family was suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Officers found Blaise and her son Claudys, 13, unconscious and her 10-year-old daughter Francysca, semi-conscious.
Her husband, Yves Blaise, 49, and another daughter Frandia, 16, were able to leave the house on their own, cops said.
