Remmy 40x - 540x ?

Whats the diffrenc? Do the 540x alsow fitt to all aftermarket stocks for the remmy 700?

540x is same action as the 540/541s. Rear locking lugs, 9 i think? The 40x is the same footprint as the 700s, and yea the 40xs are drop ins although look for the actions screws and make sure they work (long or short). Just bed it in and go shooting!

Oh yea, both are single shots, tho the 541s and some 581s were repeaters. Some 40xs were repeaters but 99.8% were single shots and the repeaters are high $ and i dont reccomend shooting one. There are some guys are cutting 40x single shots for the repeater comversions. There are other custom actions that are 40x footprints and can be built cheap. My Stiller Lonestar was 765$ for the action, screwed a rechambered and cut down factory 40x barrel and a remington trigger that i bedded into a remington wood benchrest stock and did it all for under $1000.
