Remmy 5R .223? Also 5.56?

Hours. Thanks, but that "doesn't answer the question" , as all the other sites, I've visited. The 5.56 is set up for a longer throat, than the .223. About a "tenth of an inch". When I try to "set" 2 thousandths, off the lands, it becomes an issue. The.308, I have, has a "very long throat". Wondering if the Remmy 5R.223 is the "same"., i.e. long throat. Too long, actually, and I've thought about having the barrel cut down, and rechambered. Looking for some one who has one, and reloads for it. Just sitting here, doing "research". I'll get all the guages, for it. Just "wondering".
How hard did you look? Google '.223 vs 5.56'

I am not sure my new 5r will be the same as yours as it’s not the standard 5r everyone thinks of. But it is a 5r... came with a factory black cerakote finish, fluted Remington 24” varmint barrel marked 5r tactical rifling and a BC m40 stock... Buds has/had a few a couple months back, as did a local shop in Indiana.

The distance to the lands is right around .1-.15” shorter than what my SPS tactical chamber measures with the same bullet/s.

In my 5r I can touch the lands with just about every bullet and still fit with in the factory mag box. In the SPS tactical if I load to the lands the factory mag will come up short but work fine in a AICS mag.

Thanks. that's "more" what I'm looking for.

The "feedback", I've seen, on 308 5R's is the Long throat" issue". I have one, and it's hard{read- near impossible} to "approach the lands" and still fit the mag. I was wondering about the .223. If it is .223, and not .223/5.56,maybe there is hope I can approach the lands, and still fit the Mag.Just doing research before the gun arrives. The 5rs "always" shoot bug holes, for me.I'm trying to "get better", or maybe I'm driving myself nuts? We'll see.

Well if it does have the longer throat it will still work, you just have to find the sweet spot, in my tactical (with the long throat) I found 2.260” to work great with 69smk’s in fact it shot better there than when I explored touching to jumping .020” and using the AI mag system.

If 5R milspec had the stainless with the green HS stock version, then it has the same chamber as mine as I just measured my COAL with my comparator set for land length and it measures 2.295ish with the 69smk. Internal mag box is about 2.368” as best as I can measure.

Just for reference if others search this topic my SPS Remington Tactical measures a COAL to the lands with 2.395 with the 69smk so it is .100” longer.
